Welcome to the American Dream Tito the Builder!

"Tito the Builder" is John McCain's latest supporter to come out. But he didn't come out attacking Obama. He came out swinging at the media for failing the American people! This video is from his interview with Megyn Kelly. This evening he was a guest on Hannity and Colmes and gave Colmes a good run for his money.

The best thing that he said tonight on H&C was regarding Obama's "tax credits." He said that if he gets let's say a $2000 check in the mail from the government under Obama, sponsored of course by the "wealthy" (or Obama's version of wealth anyway!) that if you break down that $2000, that comes to $0.96 an hour and he won't work for that amount of money!

Tito the Builder is the epitome of what the American Dream is all about. He didn't ask for handouts. He came to America (legally I might add) and saw that it had to offer. He started out like most people start out. They start out in what they may perceive to be a dead end job, but he didn't let it become that. He didn't let it become his life. It was a stepping stone to bigger and better things because he wanted it enough! And now he owns his own small construction company and is living his version of the American Dream.

He sees through the bs, he sees through the media. While other people in his position may see Obama as a gateway to better things, he calls it for what it really is. He cut through Obama's rhetoric in the most simple of terms: Obama wants to keep those who are down, down by appeasing them and encouraging poor behavior by rewarding it with "free money from the rich" because it isn't fair that they have money and you don't.

John McCain is right about one thing. The American People DO work hard. Most of us do. Most of us hit that alarm clock in the morning and drag ourselves out of our warm beds, away from our families, our dog, our household chores and bust our butts for 8 hours or more. We sit through rush hour traffic twice a day, get chewed out by higher ups for mistakes that may or may not be ours, listen to customers complain, bag groceries, perform bank transactions, swing sledge hammers, work our fingers until they are numb on a computer keyboard, perform heart surgery, sit in a classroom to lectures, teach children how to add and subtract, and style hair to work toward our dreams.

But we do it. And with little to no complaining because it is all a step in the plan.

We need social classes to make the world go around. Someone has to flip the burgers, bag the groceries, and mop the floors just as much as we need someone to run the companies. But if you actually apply yourself, you won't be in that position forever. You will find something better and it will mean something because you earned it. And the person to take your place will earn their path to bigger and better things too.

But only if they want to earn it on their own accord instead of having it handed to them.

One Last Thought before Election Day

And from my friend Christy (joke):
I was talking to a friend's little girl, and she said she wanted to be President some day.

Both of her parents, liberal Democrats, were standing there, so I asked her, 'If you were President what would be the first thing you would do?'
She replied, 'I'd give food and houses to all  the homeless people.'

'Wow - what a worthy goal!' I told her, 'But you don't have to wait until you're President to do that.  You can start now. Come over to my house and mow, pull weeds, and sweep my yard , and I'll  pay you $50. Then, I'll take you over to the grocery store where the homeless guy hangs out, and you can give him the $50 to use toward food or a new house.'

She thought that over for a few moments because she's only 6.

And while her Mom glared at me, she looked me straight  in the eye and asked, 'Why doesn't the homeless guy come over and do the work, and you can
just pay him the $50?'

And I said, 'Welcome to the Republican Party.'

Halloween Prank Hangs Sarah Palin

Brought to my attention by my friend Lesley, and administrator of moms4realchange.com

Halloween Palin Prop Sparks Controversy In WeHo

WEST HOLLYWOOD, Calif. (AP) ? A Halloween decoration showing a mannequin dressed as vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin hanging by a noose from the roof of a West Hollywood home is drawing giggles from some passers-by and gasps of outrage from others.

The mannequin is dressed in brunet wig, glasses and a red business suit. Another mannequin dressed as John McCain emerges from a flaming chimney.

Chad Michael Morisette, who lives in the house, told CBS 2 News that drivers and bus passengers have been stopping to snap pictures of the macabre scene.

Morisette says the effigy would be out of bounds at any other time of year, but it's within the spirit of Halloween.

He says "it should be seen as art, and as within the month of October. It's Halloween, it's time to be scary it's time to be spooky." Click for Video of the mannequin and interview with the residents of that home

Ok, now here is my Biden "Get Real" moment.

This is innappropriate at ANY time of year regarding ANY person. This should not be viewed as art, but as a blatent attack on McCain and Palin from the Left. It doesn't surprise me whatsoever that this happened in West Hollywood.

People on the left abuse the First Amendment to no end. It is art when we hang likenesses of Palin from trees and wear tshirts that call her a derogatory name, but when Joe Biden is asked a tough question, we have to shun that news station for doing their job in reporting both sides of the fence.

Why should we not be equally as outraged if this was a mannequin of Obama or Biden as we should be with this being an attack on Sarah Palin?

These people should be absolutely ashamed of themselves.

Josh Mandel: More than just a Veteran

I saw the column posted up today about the attacks on Ohio State Representative Josh Mandel and figured this was something worth covering and looking deeper into.

Josh Mandel is a 31 year old Ohio Republican serving in the State House. He proudly serves the 17th district, covering areas such as Bentleyville, Huntington Valley, and Oakwood, just to name a few.

Josh Mandel joined the Marines in 2000, graduating first in his class in both boot camp and Marine Corps Intelligence School. He is a decorated veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom, receiving the Navy and Marine Corps Achievment Medal. In addition to exemplary service to our country and to the people of Iraq, Josh has a bachelor's degree from Ohio State and a Law degree from Case Western Reserve University School of Law.

Josh started his campaign for State Representative the old fashioned way: He went door to door to talk to voters, learn about them, and ask for their support idividually. He visited 19,679 homes of Ohio citizens and won the election in 2006.

He is now up for re-election, and wishes to continue his service at home for the state of Ohio. He was called upon early in his term to return for a second tour of duty in Iraq, where his Intelligence expertise was needed. He accepted the call because he pledged his service to the Marines and to this nation as a whole.

His leaving the district to return to Iraq is now under fire from the left in a shameful game of "dirty politics as usual."

He is being accused by his opposition's wife (Barbara Belovich) that "he
feels that his obligation to George Bush is stronger to you know to his
obligation to the people of the 17th district." Click for Audio of her accusations

Representative Josh Mandel did not leave his district to serve George W. Bush. He left his district in my eyes and in the eyes of most Americans to serve his country as a whole, and that includes defending the freedoms and safety of Ohioans as well. He served his district in a more hands on way by redeploying. Our military serves ALL of our best interests. To state otherwise is dispicable.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank Josh Mandel for having the courage to leave his job on American soil behind to serve America and Ohio in the name of continued freedom and to free the lives of others that do not have the same privilege that we do as Americans. Good luck to John Mandel in his re-election. Blog About the Attacks

A Real First Lady

There has been an outpouring of news over Cindy McCain and her former addiction to prescription drugs in this election.

The role of First Lady has never been officially defined. Historically, we have seen the First Lady participating in charity work and serving as an influence to legislation regarding women's rights (on top of normal social duties).

Cindy McCain comes from a long history of being charitiable, not just in the United States, but world wide. Our current First Lady, Laura Bush, has displayed that same chartiable heart in her 8 years in the White House.

I would like to take an opportunity to bring to light her latest project to help women in the Middle East.

One Nation Under God

I just posted this as a comment on another blog and looking back, I feel it worthy to share.

I will start off by stating that I do not practice any sort of organized religion. I am not atheist, I have simply chosen not to take that path. However, I do strongly respect religion and people that have strong faith. I believe that Christianity has a good moral basis of standards to live by.

I think it is a fair assessment to state that most people here on Townhall are people that actively practice their faith. This assessment is based on the hundreds of blogs that I have read and from the comments of my fellow TH members.

I do not feel it is completely off balance to say, (as it has been indicated to me in the past few days by a TH member that we are not a nation under God), that we are a country founded on Christian belief and value.

Our Founding Fathers were men of strong faith and belief that we are all children created in God's image. They built a society based on our natural born freedoms granted to us by our Creator: life, liberty, the pursuit of happiness. They openly practiced their religion in the public eye, unashamed of who they were, what they believed, and loyal to the one Being that they knew all of us were here on earth to ultimately serve.

The official motto of our great country is "In God We Trust." It became official by way of Congress in 1956.

"At the present time the United States has no national motto.
The committee deems it most appropriate that 'In God we trust' be so
designated as U.S. national motto." Document to be viewed here

Since we became a free nation in 1776, our nation's leaders have a history of putting their faith into their practice of and creation of our law. Here are some examples (as previously posted elsewhere):

  • Fisher Ames wrote the First Amendment and later stated that the Bible should be the principal text book in all classrooms.
  • Governor Morris of PA, whom helped write the Constitution has said that "education should teach the precepts of religion and the duties of man towards God."
  • John Quincy Adams once said that we are an "independent nation of Christians" of our no longer being colonies after the war.
  • 187 out of the first 200 universities in the US were Christian schools and Harvard once required a strong knowledge of the Bible to be admitted.
  • The first Supreme Court Chief Justice, John Jay explained that our duty as Americans is to help and encourage the virtue of religion, as well as the duty of other free peoples and governments.
  • Our first President believed that all Americans and potential Americans should learn and practice our customs and culture, but most importantly to put their faith in Jesus and their religion. He said that if people needed guidance in their journey into the faith of Jesus Christ that Congress would help them along the way.
  • "History will also afford frequent opportunities of showing the necessity of a public religion...and the excellency of the Christian religion above all others, ancient or modern." Benjamin Franklin

There of course are arguments to the contrary (I'm sure many with a good factual basis), but most of us see this as a country based on a Judaeo-Christian belief system.

The Constitution: What is missing?

Photobucket

My mother told me that I better give her credit for this find because she emailed it to me today. And the next little ditty is from my friend Melissa:

Think about this:
1. Cows
2.. The Constitution
3. The Ten Commandments

COWS
Is it just me, or does anyone else find it amazing that during the madcow epidemic our government could track a single cow, born in Canada almost three years ago, right to the stall where she slept in the state of Washington? And, they tracked her calves to their stalls. But they are unable to locate 11 million illegal aliens wandering around our country. Maybe we should give each of them a cow.

THE CONSTITUTION
They keep talking about drafting a Constitution for Iraq ... why don't we just give them ours? It was written by a lot of really smart guys,it has worked for over 200 years, and we're not using it anymore.

THE 10 COMMANDMENTS
The real reason that we can't have the Ten Commandments posted in acourthouse is this -- you cannot post 'Thou Shalt Not Steal' 'ThouShalt Not Commit Adultery' and 'Thou Shall Not Lie' in a building fullof lawyers, judges and politicians ... it creates a hostile work environment.

America Still a Beacon of Hope, Thanks to our Military

All too often, the media overlooks the good news coming from Iraq. The progress being made on a daily basis can be attributed to the workings of The Surge, the brilliant leadership of General David Petreaus, and all of our brave men and women in uniform. Their dedication to the people of Iraq, Afghanistan, and most of all, The United States of America must be recognized. We owe them a debt of gratitude that cannot be measured with some monetary value.

We owe these incredible Soldiers, Sailors, Marines, and Airmen our LIVES. It is because of them and their continued devotion to freedom that we are able to sleep peacefully at night, without the worry of attack. It is because of them that we are able to blog on this forum and openly express our views on the direction that we would like our country to take.

It is because of these noble men and women that little girls are receiving an education, that children can play in the streets without being blown up by a truck passing by, that women have the right to speak openly, and that the threat of their own government killing them for having a thought is now non existant. They have given a gift to the people of Iraq beyond ipods, cell phones, and the material items that we take for granted every day. They have given the people of Iraq a chance to create their own future.

Freedom is on the march and it will reach the far corners of the world. Not because the United States are war criminals. Not because we believe we know what is best for everyone. Not because we are a "down right mean country." It is because through it all, at the end of the day, the United States is STILL a beacon of hope in the world.

People are dying to get into our country. They are sneaking in by the millions to have a piece of what we have. They come to the United States because we have the best schools, the best health care, the best technology, and the freedom to be whatever you want to be and who you want to be.

Between 1892 and 1954, almost 12 million people came to Ellis Island (my family included) in pursuit of "The American Dream." They came from Italy, Ireland, Germany, Poland...everywhere. And the first thing they saw as they approached American soil and took their first breath in the harbor was the Statue of Liberty. A symbol of freedom from tyranny as she moves from the broken shackles at her feet.

This year in one week alone, 163,000 people applied for Visas to come and work in our country for the fiscal year of 2009. 85,000 total will be granted.

We are still the brightest and best nation in the world, and we owe it our military for their persistance in keeping us free. We are awaiting your safe arrival home in victory.

A Vision of Students

Ok...for the blog I am going to post this video created by an anthropology professor at Kansas State University (If you have never been there, the campus is beautiful and the little town around it is classic small town America. I went to a concert in the surrounding town once. Nice people.)

Anyway, getting back on topic, this video shows what is happening in our educational system today and what students are engaged in. I'd like everyone's thoughts on the video, what they took from it, and how they view education. What do you believe works, what needs to change in the educational system, and what your preferred method of learning might be.

I plan on becoming a teacher, but I don't necessarily believe in conventional teaching methods. I'll get more into that as we discuss.

You know you're a redneck when...

1. You eat fried mayonaise.
2. Your porch is bigger than your house.
3. Your Halloween pumpkin has more teeth than you.
4. You live in the state of Pennsylvania (specifically Western PA)
5. John Murtha thinks it is better to be redneck than to be racist.

Basically, Murtha has done it again. He tried to "fix" what he said, but it became all too apparent from his failed attempt at an apology that he meant what he said last week.

"What I said, that indicted everybody, that's not what I meant at all. What I mean is there's still folks that have a problem voting for someone because they are black," Murtha said.

Murtha said the history of southwestern Pennsylvania is teeming with racism. "This whole area, years ago, was really redneck," he told WTAE-TV Pittsburgh.

Murtha, a Democrat, apologized last week for calling the area "racist," but challenger Bill Russell said it was a reckless insult to the people in his district and the "cheapest of cheap shots."

Hmmm...So "redneck" is now a synonym for "racist" according to that explaination.

Murtha and Biden should form a club. They can get pedicures for their mouths because their feet are permanently lodged there.

We Need to Say NEVER AGAIN

This blog doesn't have to do with the election. But after seeing something on St8 talk's blog, I decided that I needed to post this.

I warn you, the images are somewhat graphic, if not just hard to take in.

I cried my eyes out through the entire video.

Our children are precious. We need to come together not just as a nation, but as people to say "never again will we allow this to happen to our children."

We need harsher penalties on those who committ these crimes and those that allow instances like this to continue. Baby Brianna's life could have been saved if her grandmother or another family member whom knew of her abuse had stepped in. The penalty the grandmother and uncle faced were not harsh enough. They were just as guilty as the parents that killed her.

We need to see to it that the Supreme Court does not legislate from the bench and impede upon the rights of the states to punish the people guilty of murdering and or raping children. (Such as in Louisiana)

Currently, there is a bi-partisen bill sponsored by Senators Joe Biden (we all know whom he is), Senator Orrin Hatch (R-UT) and my state senator, Senator Arlen Specter (R-PA). It is the Child Protection Improvements Act. It passed Judiciary committe back on July 28 and is waiting to go to the floor for vote.

Specifically, the Child Protection Improvements Act of 2008 will:

• Make the pilot program permanent;
• Create an Applicant Processing Center (APC) to assist youth-serving organizations with the administrative tasks related to accessing the system, including the collection of fingerprints and working with the FBI on fees;
• Establish the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children as a “criminal history resource center” to assist youth-serving organizations on how to interpret criminal history records;
• Authorize a fee of no more than $25 to pay for the FBI for the background check and to off-set the expenses incurred by the new Applicant Processing Center; and
• Include privacy protections as recommended by the Department of Justice to ensure that criminal histories and related records are used and disposed of appropriately.

Please write or call your congressmen and ask them to vote in favor of the Child Protection Improvements Act. Info here

We need to do all that we can to ensure that cases like Baby Brianna are rare or non existant.

Obama-Biden Administration will bring attacks?

That's what Biden believes...

So within 6 months of an Obama Administration, we can expect a major crisis.

By show of comments, who here believes that the only thing keeping Iran quiet at this point in time (and by quiet I mean militarily) is that they are waiting to see whom wins the election? *Raises hand.*

Iran is biding their time at this point. An Obama administration could mean good things for Iran.

Think about it. Obama has ZERO foreign policy experience apart "Obamapalooza 2008" in Germany. This is a man whom has penned in his book that he "will stand with the Muslims should the political winds shift in an ugly direction."

I've got news for Commrade Obama: It is already ugly.

We have Iran claiming Israel to be a stinking corpse and that they are going to wipe Israel off the map. Regarding the US, just a few weeks ago in NYC, Ahmadinejad said "American empire in the world is reaching the end of its road."

This is just my prediction. Iran already believes at this point the same as most of us do (in my opinion). That Obama thinks he can smooth talk Ahmadinejad to just peacefully disarm, stop their nuclear ambition, and just say "Okay. Yeah, the Holocaust happened. We promise not to annihiliate the Jews. They're good people."

I'll grant Obama that he has one hell of a case of serpent's tongue. But NO ONE is that good.

The radical groups in the Middle East are ROOTING for Obama to win. These are people whom hate us and want to take us down. They call us "The Great Satan." So why are they so interested in whom are president is unless they are considering one of two things:

1. Do they secretly have a friend in the White House that supports their political/cultural agenda?
2. Do they believe that with an inexperienced and arrogant president in the White House that they will be able to have their hay day?

Al Sharpton on Huckabee

Now I normally don't agree with much that Al Sharpton has to say (and a lot of times I feel doesn't have to say). I feel that he is partially responsible for the constant division of this country between races instead of standing up and having the power to say "Hey we are all Americans and we all have the same problems." I believe that Rev. Sharpton is an enabler of the victimization card played by many minorities. But in this interview, for I think the second time in my life, I felt Sharpton made a very valid point about the potential voter fraud and the threat to the integrity of our voting rights and system.
