Mission #4 Immigration Reform 101: Who is playing in our yard?

The second topic that I will cover in depth as a part of Operation W’s Redemption is illegal immigration.

Illegal immigration is a huge problem in the United States. It is a threat to our National Security, to American jobs, to our safety, and to our culture.

In this lesson (which again, will most likely be split into two separate lessons for easier reading, the first only covering crime)I will cover to following talking points:

The dangers in illegal immigration
Statistics on where they are coming from and in what numbers
The threat to our culture
Sanctuary Cities
Modern day slavery
The cost of illegal immigration

It is no secret that we are living in a country in dire straits as far as undocumented immigrants are concerned. Illegal immigration is an issue isn’t just a matter of people sneaking into America to seek a better life. It is a threat to our safety, our economy, our national security, and our culture.

Every single day, an estimated 10,000 people set foot on US soil that have not been approved to become residents. They bypassed our immigration laws and our border security and have subjected innocent American citizens to danger.

Some of you may be saying “Not all immigrants that jump the border are criminals.”

To that I say: Every single one of them is a criminal, is guilty of breaking the law, and should be documented into the system as having entered the US illegally, and then promptly deported.

There is a set of guidelines that one must abide by to be approved to live in our country. There is a process to come into our country in an orderly, documented fashion and become a productive member of society. It is a matter of THE LAW. If you break that law, you are a criminal.

Crime in this country is out of control among illegal immigrants and are less likely to be reported for fear of legal ramification including incarceration and deportation. They are less likely to report domestic abuse or crimes occurring in their communities or at work.

Crimes by illegal aliens are crimes that should not have occurred. A report by the GAO in 2005 revealed the following results:

"At the federal level, the number of criminal aliens incarcerated increased from about 42,000 at the end of calendar year 2001 to about 49,000 at the end of calendar year 2004--a 15 percent increase. The percentage of all federal prisoners who are criminal aliens has remained the same over the last 3 years--about 27 percent. The majority of criminal aliens incarcerated at the end of calendar year 2004 were identified as citizens of Mexico. We estimate the federal cost of incarcerating criminal aliens--BOP's cost to incarcerate criminals and reimbursements to state and local governments under SCAAP--totaled approximately $5.8 billion for calendar years 2001 through 2004. BOP's cost to incarcerate criminal aliens rose from about $950 million in 2001 to about $1.2 billion in 2004--a 14 percent increase."

The study also audited a sampling of 100 incarcerated illegals and found that 73 of them accounted for :429 arrests, 878 charges, and 241 convictions. The charges ranged from burglary, robbery, and theft to drug related charges.

  • The L.A. County Sheriff reported in 2000 that 23% of inmates in county jails were deportable, according to the New York Times.
  • In 2004, an estimated two-thirds of around 17,000 outstanding fugitive felony warrants were targeted at illegal aliens in Los Angeles.

 

Initiation into American Culture, or the destruction of it?: Gang Activity and How Sanctuary Cities Exploit OUR Safety

 

As recently as October of this year, American children have been the victims of gang and drug cartel activity in the United States at the hands of illegal aliens. Six year old Cole Puffinburger was abducted by a group of illegals to send a message to family member involved in drug trafficking.

It is happening everywhere. All gangs are a danger to our neighborhoods, but gangs of illegal immigrants should not be on the map. They should not be here. These crimes could have been prevented.

Sanctuary cities such as San Francisco encourage and allow these types of activities to continue. In June of this year in San Francisco, Danielle Bologna lost her husband and two sons at the hands of an illegal alien, Edwin Ramos of El Salvador.

Due to the "City of Refuge" ordinance established in 1989, federal authorities were not notified of Ramos’ previous convictions as a juvenile on gang related charges. The ordinance strictly prohibit’s the Juvenile Probation Department from alerting the feds on matters of immigration.

One of the most famous gangs is made up of Salvadorians and is made up of many illegals. It is called Mara Salvatrucha (MS-13). The Washington Times has claimed that the FBI is referring to MS-13 as the “new American Mafia.”

According to Gangs or Us, “It has been estimated that MS-13 has over 15,000 members and associates in at least 115 different cliques in 33 states, and these numbers are continually increasing.”

These gangs are guilty of crimes such as murder, gang-rape, decapitating victims, robbery, human-trafficking, and drug trafficking.

A study released in June of 2007 conducted by ICE:

"The results of the assessment showed that most major metropolitan areas were experiencing a surge in gang activity. Additionally, the survey showed that membership of these violent transnational gangs was comprised largely of foreign-born nationals."

• Gang members in the United States: 800,000
• State and local police in the United States: 708,000

Under Los Angeles’s Special Order 40, if a police officer inquires into a gang member’s immigration status, he will face punishment from the department. This order is hindering the prevention of future crimes. The number of illegal alien gang members in this country outnumbers the amount of police officers we have in this country by over 100,000. Sanctuary laws violate the police force’s ability to effectively reduce crime, by getting prosecutions for minor offenses now that will prevent felonies at a later date. Gang related crimes in this country rose by 50% between 1999 and 2002 alone.

A study conducted by the California Department of Justice reported that in 1995, 60% of the 18th Street Gang in southern California is illegal. The gang has a minimum of 20,000 members. They have been known to work hand in hand with the Mexican Mafia (a well known prison gang) on crimes including extortion, drive-by shootings, and drug related offenses. The gang continues to grow by appealing to youths from Central American countries and Mexico, most of whom are here illegally.

Accoriding to the Union-Tribune, an estimated 20% of gang members in San Diego County are illegal.

The leadership of the Columbia Lil’ Cycos gang, which uses murder and racketeering to control the drug market around Los Angeles’s MacArthur Park, was about 60 percent illegal in 2002. Francisco Martinez, a Mexican Mafia member and an illegal alien, controlled the gang from prison, while serving time for felonious reentry following deportation.

Keep your eye on the border!

The largest threat to Americas living in border states are Mexican drug cartels. Every year, Americans are kidnapped and taken back to Mexico only to be tortured, raped, sold into slavery, kidnapped for ransome, or to die a gruesome death.

In the border town of Camargo, Mexico is known to be one of the handful of drug cartel training camps strewn across northern geographic Mexico. The camps conduct training similar to that of the military. The potential drug cartel members include everyone from deserters of the Mexican military to American teenagers. Officials can only estimate that the number of trainees has been in the hundreds. What are they trained for?

Simple: To kill.

The training camps are often used for a short time and then abandoned, possibly returned to at a much later date. Some are considered “mobile”, being conducted on private land (most times without the consent of the owners). They train on weapons including the AK-47, grenade launchers, and .50 caliber machine gun.

“Traffickers go to great lengths to prepare themselves for battle,” said a senior U.S. anti-narcotics official. “Part of that preparation is live firing ranges and combat training courses. ... And that's not something that we have seen before.”

In the past two years, at least 5,000 people have lost there lives due to the violence brought on by Mexican drug cartels.

In August of this year, warnings came through to El Paso, Texas regarding the targeting of locations on US soil by drug cartels.

In October of this year, violence on the Mexican border resulted in 50 deaths. Two were found beheaded.

I searched Youtube for videos to post depicting violence caused by these drug cartels and was completely startled to find videos of decapitations. I couldn’t bare to watch them to the end, nor will I post them. If you search “Mexican Drug Cartel Killings” the results are frightening.

 This will conclude this segment on our border crisis. I could write forever on just the violence caused by illegal immigrants and the drug cartels and gangs. I will continue this blog in another segment to cover the effect on our economy, the threat to our culture, and other topics.

This is a problem. A huge threat to Americans. The MSM is NO covering this and persistently claim illegal immigration to be a “victimless crime.” I will prove beyond a shadow of a doubt in the next blog that YOU my friends are the victims.

Something a little fun to break up the week

I haven't be able to blog as much as I used to lately due a busy personal life and work. I am working on a new blog that will hopefully be up by the weekend (it will be another educational two parter, I'll send out an alert if I ever finish it lol The research is killing me!)
 
So just for a break and some fun, here is a little story.
 
I LOVE John Kasich. It has nothing to do with politics. Something about him draws me to him. I've been trying to figure it out for about a year. I said it to my mother about a week ago and she looks at the tv (he was on Hannity and Colmes) and says "It's because he looks like Harrison Ford." I screamed "THANK YOU!"
 
My mother knows how much I love Harrison Ford. She cracked the code.

Part 2 of Abortion-Protecting Life from the Beginning

Today I am going to cover Part 2 of When Does Life Start?

Pro-Life:

What does it mean to be “pro-life”?

Traditional conservatives view being pro-life as accepting life as starting at conception and respecting life at all stages of development.

Being pro-life does not just mean that you are against aborting children, but it also covers the protection of people whom are unable to communicate for themselves due to various disabilities and illnesses. Pro-life is an acceptance of all life.

Many people that are a part of the pro-life movement not only accept the creation of life biologically, but spiritually. A vast majority of pro-lifers come from a Christian background, therefore protecting the lives of the unborn is also a matter of faith. Roman Catholics carry a strong presence in the pro-life movement, advocating for stronger education in abstinence (willfully refraining from sexual intercourse or other “pleasures” such as alcohol). The Church also argues the use of birth control, believing that we as humans should be blessed with as many children as we are meant to have under the will of our Creator. This stance is also due to the belief that inhibiting a woman’s ovulation is also ending life before it has a chance to grow.

The Bible never specifically speaks of abortion, but does pose views of unborn life:
"For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place. When I was woven together in the depths of the earth, your eyes saw my unformed body. All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be” Psalm 139:13-16

 Conservatives that believe in life from conception 100% tend to view abortion at any stage in pregnancy as infanticide (The murder of an infant born alive; the murder or killing of a newly born or young child; child murder).

Advocates for the pro-life movement range in urging for legislation outlawing abortion or stronger sanctions and laws regarding the availability of abortion and the reasons that abortion can be sought. Conservatives believe in seeking alternatives to abortion, such as adoption, which will be covered later.

Pro-Choice:

There are many types of “moderates” on the pro-choice side of the abortion debate (meaning that people hold different views regarding what types of abortion should be allowed, how far into the pregnancy, and the privacy rights of the pregnant woman).

To be pro-choice means that you support a woman’s right to choose her fate and the fate of her unborn fetus when it comes to human reproduction. This not only encompasses a woman’s right to decide in every aspect of her fertility, but also with regard to having access to comprehensive sex education.

Those on the side of the Pro-Choice Movement are not all extreme, but most hold a considerably moderate view. Many pro-choice people believe in the choice of others, but it is not the choice they would make for themselves. Not all pro-choicers believe in abortion on demand, partial birth abortion, or unlimited access to abortion.

Some views regarding being pro-choice are that of believing:

  • It is a woman’s body and she has the right to choose if and when she terminates her pregnancy
  • Abortion is only okay in the case of rape, incest, or danger to the life of the mother (health risk)---This view is also popular among people on the pro-life side.
  • Abortion is okay at any point in the pregnancy
  • It should be legal to prevent “back alley” abortions (women would see a medical professional)

President-Elect Barack Obama and Abortion:

It is quite possible, that President-Elect Obama holds the single most liberal views on abortion in the United States. Obama wishes to pass the "Freedom of Choice Act."
 
The FOCA legislation seeks to:
  • Lift all federal abortion bans
  • Impede upon the rights of parents to know that their minor child has had an abortion
  • Lift proper education requirements regarding women seeking abortions (risks, safety, alternatives)
  • Provide for abortion on demand at any point in a woman's pregnancy for any reason
  • Would force faith based medical facilities to perform abortions
  • Require tax payer funding for abortions
Obama supports this legislation and has stated at a Planned Parenthood sponsored event: "There will always be people, many of good will, whom do not share my view on the issue of choice. On this fundamental issue, I will not yield, Planned Parenthood will not yield...The first thing I would do as President is sign the Freedom of Choice Act."
 
Regarding his daughters, at a rally in Johnstown, PA, Obama said that "If they make a mistake, I don't want them punished with a baby."
 
Having a baby in Obama's view based on this statement, is not a joyous occassion. It is not a miracle, a gift. Having to accept responsibility for your actions (to be held accountable) is PUNISHMENT. A burden.
 
On the issue of partial birth abortion (described in as little detail as possible in my previous blog, but not without giving an accurate depiction of the process), Obama voted yes twice on legislation that would require medical treatment to be given to babies that survive this horrendous act. The legislation is called the Born Alive Infant Protection Act.

The following is from the transcript (page 85 of the pdf file) during a debate of the legislation (taken on  March 28, 2001 in which then State Senator Obama voted "no" on the legislation):
"Whenever we define a previable fetus as a person that is protected by the equal protection clause of the Constitution, what we are really saying is, in fact, that they are persons entitled to the kinds of protections what would be provided  to a-- a child, a nine month-old--child that was delivered to term. That determination would then, essentially, if accepted by a court, would forbid abortions to take place." 
 
Essentially, what I am taking from this testimony, is that if a baby is not delivered to full term, they are not true citizens. I pose this question to Obama: I was born 6 weeks early. I was not able to breathe on my own when I was born because my lungs were not fully developed. My poor mother thought when I wasn't crying and she wasn't able to see me when I was born that she lost a second child. Not lost a previable fetus, lost a child. Should I, having not been carried to term, been left to die due to a "botched" pregnancy much like the babies that are not afforded the right to healthcare after surviving a botched abortion?
 
About 45 minutes before Jordan (my son) was delivered, his heartrate suddenly dropped.  Since I went into labor a week early, should I have told my doctor and nurses not to do everything in their power to save Jordan because I wasn't carrying him to term anyway?
 
Just something to ponder over...
 
Since the election season, most of us have become familiar with Gianna Jessen. Gianna is a 31 year old woman who survived an abortion. 
 
Is Gianna "previable?" She is alive today. Obama defined the babies that survive abortions as "temporarily alive."  Gianna was 2 pounds at birth and due to the abortion process, now has Cerebral Palsy after she was burned with saline solution for 18 hours in the third trimester in her mother's womb. She was then placed in foster care and was later adopted by the daughter of her foster mother.

This is the man that the American people elected to be President of the United States. A man that believes so strongly in abortion, that he would spin the definition of a viable life to trample on the Constitution and the right of a living human to have medical aid to save their life.
 
A fetus is defined as: the young of an animal in the womb or egg
 
I would like to place emphasis on "in the womb" for the following reason: abortion is the process of ending the life of a fetus. Once a fetus "breaths air" it is no longer a fetus. It is a baby. A person. A human. A citizen of the soil on which he or she is born. President Elect Obama is for the killing of US Citizens when their life is inconvenient by this definition. (Which is legal and biological. That's just science! Biology 101)
 
 
The Risk in Abortion:
 
There are many risks involved during the process of an abortion. It is extremely important for a woman to be informed not only of the risk to her physical health, but to be aware of the emotional issues that may arise from having an abortion.
 
The website After Abortion is a great resource detailing different physical problems that could result from an abortion including, and not limited to: future ectopic pregnancies, cervical cancer, endometriosis, hemorhagging, convulsions, cervical lacerations and tearing, and excessive bleeding.
 
The site Pregnancy Centers not only provides information about immediate consequences and future possible physical complications, but provides for information regarding a woman's mental and spiritual healing and overall health.
 
Many women (and at times their male partners)  experience depression, sexual disfunction, suicidal thoughts, overwhelming feelings of guilt, or even increased use of drugs and alcohol following an abortion. It may affect their relationship and the ability to hold together future relationships.
 
When choosing to go through with an abortion, it is extremely detrimental for a woman to know all of the facts before following through. The FOCA would inhibit pertinent information from being provided to women during the process of their choice.
 
Prevention:
 
The most ideal way to put an end to abortion and the ongoing debate would be to prevent situations in which women would be seeking an abortion. This can only be achieved through comprehensive education on safe sex, abstinence, and alternatives to abortion (like adoption).
 
It is important to not only know your options for participating in safe sex, but knowing what methods are right for you and your partner. Condoms are the most common method of practicing safe sex. In any given year, 2 out of 100 couples that properly use condoms will experience an unintended pregnancy. (Therefore, a properly used condom is about 98% effective). 15% of women that use no form of contraception will not get pregnant.
 
The FDA has released important information regarding different types of contraceptives and their effectiveness when used properly. It is extremely important for women and their partners when looking into contraceptives to talk to their doctor about how to use the contraceptive to achieve optimal effectiveness.
 
Of course, the only full proof way to prevent unwanted pregnancy is to remain abstinent. Abstinence in this day in age is controversial. In a culture dominated by sex in the media, there is a great amount of pressure, especially on pre-teens, teens, and young adults, to engage in sexual activity before they are mentally ready to handle the consequences. It is important to teach our youth about respecting their bodies and letting them know with facts, that they are not invincible and that anyone can get pregnant.
 
Adoption:
 
The alternative to abortion is to carry a child to term and place the child up for adoption. There are many different types of adoptions, ranging from closed adoptions (where the biological mother will not be permitted to have contact their child) to open adoptions, where the child lives with their adoptive family, but the mother and possibly the mother's family members are a part of the child's life.

National Adoption Day:

Right now, there are an estimated 510,000 children in foster care in the United States
Over 129,000 are waiting to be adopted into a permanent home
The average child waits more than 2 years for a family to take them in permanently
The average age of a child waiting to be adopted is 8 years old
Over 26,000 children each year will reach age 18 without ever being adopted
 
This is just the tip of the iceberg. I encourage everyone to look into adoption and fostercare. In college, I volunteered a group home for children that have been taken from their parents/guardian's care for various reasons. It was heartbreaking. It was one of the most rewarding and one of the most difficult experiences of my life. I will never forget those children and the impact that they had on me.
 
 
I want to conclude this blog with a poem that was sent to me when I lost my first baby:
An angel in the book of life wrote down my baby's birth, and whispered as she closed the book "too beautiful for this earth."
A heart of gold stopped beating, two shining eyes at rest.
God broke our hearts to prove he only takes the best.
God knows you had to leave us, but you did not go alone.
For part of us went with you the day he took you home.

Fed Judge to Hear Marine Testimony against Murtha

Federal Judges to Hear Arguments in Marine's Defamation Suit Against Murtha

An appeals court will hear whether Rep. Murtha should testify in the defamation suit brought by a Marine accused by the congressman of committing "cold-blooded murder and war crimes" in Iraq.

WASHINGTON -- Federal judges will hear arguments about whether Pennsylvania Rep. John Murtha should have to give a sworn deposition about his comments alleging "cold-blooded murder and war crimes" by unnamed Marines in connection with Iraqi civilian deaths in Haditha.

The case goes before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia on Tuesday morning.

The lawsuit was filed by Staff Sgt. Frank Wuterich, the only person still facing charges in the Haditha case.

The Justice Department wanted the case dismissed because Murtha was acting in his official role when he made the comments on Capitol Hill in 2005.

A federal judge has ordered Murtha to give a deposition in the case, but he's appealing the ruling.
A second Marine has also filed suit against Murtha.

Regardless of Murtha's role in government at the time, the fact remains that he has NOT retracted the comments, stands by them, and continues to push that issue against these men. They have been cleared of all charges. Defend Our Marines

Mission #3: Education on the Issues-When Does Life Start? Part 1

Continuing with Operation W's Redemption, I am going to go on with the education segment.
 
Thus far, we have covered:
  • Standing up and showing we are listening by emailing representatives asking for them to spread the wealth to us (and I hope those letters and emails keep pouring into Congress and the Senate)
  • Education on the basics of the history of Conservatism
 
The next important thing to do, is go down the line of issues that are important to the conservative base and remember why we support the side of the issues that we do. Why are we for the protection of the 2nd Amendment? Why do we want to cut spending?
 
The first issue that I am going to cover is one that was swept under the rug during the general election for the most part, and that is abortion. I am going to cover a lot of ground in this particular essay regaring the history of abortion, statistics, education on the procedures, Roe Vs. Wade and the liberal standing (especially that of the record of President Elect Obama) on late term abortions. I will also provide information that can be passed on to women and young girls so that they can be properly educated on the facts about abortion and on prevention of unwanted pregnancies.
 
Conservatives are generally either strictly pro-life or pro-choice with the want of stronger sanctions on abortion going hand in hand with more comprehensive and effective education on safe sex and abstinance or the allowance of abortions in the cases of rape or incest ONLY.
 
This essay is organized into highlighted sections due to the length and will be split into two separate blogs. So feel free to jump to points of interest.
 
Welcome to Conservative 101 Chapter 1: When does life start?
 
I am going to start off with a personal story to set the tone.

The little yellow line measuring across is measuring my baby. This is at 8 weeks, however the baby was measuring 4 weeks. The baby was the size of half a gummy bear according the the sonographer.
 
The baby you see above is not my son Jordan. This is my first baby, Alex. And later that day, March 3, 2007 just 16 days after I found out I was pregnant, Alex passed on due to miscarriage. The baby's father and I decided that it was a life lost and needed and deserved a name. This was the one and only time that I saw my baby alive. Its heart was beating and I saw it with my own two eyes. Even that small, I looked on the screen and was filled with love. I did see Alex again later that night on a second sonogram when the doctor told me I was miscarrying. The little heart was no longer beating.
 
That was the day I became pro-life after years of being pro-choice. There was no longer a question in my mind when life began, and it is certainly not above my pay grade to make that assessment.  
 
 History of Abortion:
 
Abortions have been in practice for centuries. There may be a preconceived notion that the practice of abortion arose with new medical technology.
 
The first evidence of abortion occured in Egypt in 1550 BC. Evidence also came from Chinese records between 500 and 515 BC. The first abortions were not surgical like today's preferred method. There is record of the use of various herbs, mercury, and exerting extreme physical stress on the body. As time progressed, methods deemed to be surgical to extract the baby from the womb were used, but were uncommon.
 
In the 2nd century, a Greek physician began the practice of inducing abortions for the same reasons that women seek them today (e.g. the pregnancy is detrimental to their health and safety or they are not mature enough emotionally to raise a child.)
 
Over centuries of progression in medical practice and in culture, abortions have been induced by herbal remedy, massage techniques, physical labor, extraction via various forms of hooks and sharp objects, tight binding of the abdomen, fasting, teas, and other botanical elixers.
 
In the 18th and 19th centuries, societal reasons for abortion began to manifest. The biggest reason was to spare the shame of raising a child out of wedlock, the next was the ineffectiveness of contraceptive methods at the time. Abortion, however, was always the "last resort."
 
Abortion was controversial and the procedure became difficult to obtain medically. Most women sought abortions "the back alley" way and risked their life to rid themselves of the unwanted child. Women began turning to various poisons and found physical methods to dialate the cervix and expel the fetus. Some objects of choice included candels, curling irons, spoons, knives, and dial rods.
 
As time went on, abortions were banned in various countries and towns, so abortions were advertised under false pretenses as pills to create regularity in menstration, to purify the body, or obstruction.
 
We now have methods based on old methods (such as dialation and curettage aka. dialating the cervix and surgically removing the contents therein) that are more safe for the woman. A local anesthetic is used on the patient after the cervix is dialated. From there, a suction curette is used to expel the contents of the uterus from the body. This most commonly is done in the first trimester. Another method is a pill to induce a miscarriage.
 
In the second trimester, saline or urea based solutions can be injected into the amniotic fluid (the fluid surrounding the baby in the placenta). After the 16th week, what we know as a "partial-birth abortion" is the method used to remove the baby from the body. The process is horrifying.

At 16 weeks, the sonographer was able to show me all of his organs and determine his sex. During the sonogram he kept putting his hands behind his head (he still does that today when he sleeps).
 
Here is a description of a 16 week fetus' development:
  • Fetal skin is almost transparent
  • Fine hair called lanugo develops on the head
  • Meconium is made in the intestinal tract
  • More muscle tissue and bones have developed, and the bones become harder
  • The baby begins to make active movements
  • The liver and pancreas produce fluid secretions
  • Sucking motions are made with the mouth
  •  
    It was around this time that I was able to feel him moving.
     
    So with that in mind, I will describe the process of partial-birth abortion (medically known as intact dialation and extraction).
    1. Guided by an ultrasound, the physician (in most cases) will find the baby's legs with forceps
    2. The baby's legs are pulled through the birth canal
    3. The entire body is delivered, except for the head (a child isn't legally defined as a baby and no longer a fetus until it breathes air
    4. A pair of scissors are jammed into the base of the infant's skull
    5. The scissors are then opened to enlarge the hole
    6. The scissors are removed and suction catheter is inserted into the base of the skull to extract the baby's brain and collapse the head
    7. The body is then fully removed and disposed of
    And to note: The baby can feel this process occuring.

     
    Roe vs. Wade:
     
    Roe vs. Wade is most likely the most famous Supreme Court case in United States History (most likely tied with Brown vs. Board of Education). The case came about in 1973 when Norma L. McCorvey (Jane Roe) claimed that she became empregnated as a result of rape. The case was tried as a challenge to Texas State law banning abortion. Ultimately, the Supreme Court overturned the states' rights to choose if abortion was legal in their state or not.
     
    The basis of the outcome lies in the 9th Amendment of the Constitution, which states as follows:
    The enumeration in the Constitution, of certain rights, shall not be construed to deny or disparage others retained by the people.
     
    Also, it was deemed in R v W that the states abortion laws violated the right to privacy as writen in the 14th Amendment:
    Section 1. All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside. No State shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States; nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws.
     
    Years later, Norma/Roe, wrote in her book I Am Roe that she felt like her lawyers in the case (Linda Coffee and Sarah Weddington) used her as a pawn. She also wrote that it was untrue that her terminated pregnancy had been the result of rape. Norma is now pro-life.
     
    The Facts:
     
    • Nearly half of all pregnancies are unplanned (4 out of 10 end in abortion)
    • 22% of all pregnancies are terminated by abortion (this excludes miscarriages)
    • 40% percent of pregnancies among white women, 69% among blacks and 54% among Hispanics are unintended
    • Between 1973 and 2005, over 45 million pregnancies were terminated
    • Over half of all abortions are performed on women under the age of 25
    • Teenagers account for 17% of abortions
    • 37% percent of abortions occur to black women, 34% to non-Hispanic white women, 22% to Hispanic women and 8% to women of other races
    • 54% of women seeking abortions used some form of contraceptive. Only 14% of condom users and 13% of birth control pill users that became pregnant report that they were using the contraceptive consistantly and correctly.

    Revolution Mission: Education-Conservatism 101

    Since election day, there has been much talk about the future of the Republican Party and the fate of the Nation. People are trying to get organized and reevaluate those that we have in office representing conservative Americans and who we want to serve us in the near future.
     
    Townhall and other blogs and news resources are buzzing with talk of conservatives banding together and taking back Washington. We here have been planning various ways to get the ball going and to be more proactive in steering our country's future. But we cannot truely get behind the wheel until we pass the road test.
     
    So I am about to present to you, the second mission in Operation W's Redemption: Education.
     
    Mission #2: Conservatism 101
     
    Why are we conservatives and what does it mean for us and our country?
     
    Here is our first lesson in Conservativism 101. Until we all know the basics of our beliefs, we cannot forge ahead with letting our representatives know our expectations and making sure that they come through for us.
     
    I am going to break conservatism down and define a lot of terms because you never know who you audience may be and how in tune they are with current events and history in general. I want this to be reader friendly because this is something that is important for our nation's youth to understand as future voters and leaders.
     
    Let's start off by defining "conservative." Here is the dictionary definition of conservative:
     
    –adjective
    1. disposed to preserve existing conditions, institutions, etc., or to restore traditional ones, and to limit change.
    2. cautiously moderate or purposefully low: a conservative estimate.
    3. traditional in style or manner; avoiding novelty or showiness: conservative suit.
    4.(often initial capital letter) of or pertaining to the Conservative party.
    5. (initial capital letter ) of, pertaining to, or characteristic of Conservative Jews or Conservative Judaism.
    6. having the power or tendency to conserve; preservative.
    7. Mathematics. (of a vector or vector function) having curl equal to zero; irrotational; lamellar.
    –noun
    8. a person who is conservative in principles, actions, habits, etc.
    9. a supporter of conservative political policies.
    10. (initial capital letter ) a member of a conservative political party, esp. the Conservative party in Great Britain.
    11. a preservative.
     
    The first part of the definition is going to be what is most important in this discussion. We want to preserve the traditional values that we have and reform the country back to its roots where necessary.
     
    Conservatives in the United States traditionally adhere to the following values:
    • support of our 2nd Amendment Rights
    • a pro-life stance on abortion
    • traditional marital values
    • low taxes
    • freedom to practice religion in public
    • fiscally conservative
    • choice in education
    • more rights for parents
    • support for stronger law enforcement, including the death penalty
    • opening foreign markets to US made products
    • private medical care
    • strong national defense and support of our military
    • enforcement of immigration laws
    • securing our borders
    • returning more power to state and local governments
    • reformation of social programs
    That is just the tip of the iceberg, but it is enough to give a general overview of what the conservative base generally feels is in the best interest of our country. To summarize, conservatives believe that the power of the country should primarily lie in local governments representative of the people. Most believe in a strong family unit and in the teachings of the church.
    American conservatives can trace the ideals of our party back to a philospher by the name of Edmund Burke. Burke was a strong supporter of the American Colonies grievences with Britian in the late 1700s. He opposed the French Revolution in the same time period so strongly that it lead the to beginning of a new ideal  system. In 1774, Burke spoke out against the tea tax in the American Colonies and stated the following:
    "Again and again, revert to your old principles—seek peace and ensue it; leave America,
    if she has taxable matter in her, to tax herself. I am not here going into the distinctions of rights,
    nor attempting to mark their boundaries. I do not enter into these metaphysical distinctions; I
    hate the very sound of them. Leave the Americans as they anciently stood, and these distinctions,
    born of our unhappy contest, will die along with it...Be content to bind America by laws of trade; 
    you have always done it...Do not burthen them with taxes..."
    This part of his speech displays the idea that more power need lay in local municipalities and not in the hands of larger government. The people should see fit to choose their duty, and should not have to submit to "taxation without representation."
     
    And so, with a strong love of liberty and the Protestant Church, Burke began to form the "New Whig" party, which is comparable to the Republican Party of today in its roots.
     
    The first true American Republican President was Abraham Lincoln. Most modern day conservatives identify their views with those of Lincoln or with President Ronald Reagan. President Lincoln described conservatism as "adherence to the old and tried, against the new and untried."
     
    The Republican Party formed in 1854 in opposition of the Kansas-Nebraska Act that would have allowed further westward expansion of slavery. Our party's name was based on the want for civic virtue and an opposition to corruption. The party came up urging the foundation of a modernized nation, the importance of higher education, a free market place, construction of railroads, and the abolishment of slavery.
     
    President Lincoln's greatest accomplishment in office were the executive orders of the Emancipation Proclaimation. The Emancipation Proclaimation was split into two parts:
    1. The first part was issued on September 22, 1862 and demanded that all slaves residing in states of the Confederacy be freed that did not return to the Union by January 1, 1863.
    2. On January 1, 1863, specific states were named where the order would apply.
     
    This war manuever led to the ratification of Thirteenth Amendment on December 18, 1865.
    The Thirteenth Amendment states as follows:
    Section 1. Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime where of the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction.
    Section 2. Congress shall have the power to enforce this article by appropriate legislation.
     
    I am now going to skip ahead to the era surrounding the Great Depression and World War II.
     
    When Franklin Delano Roosevelt took office in 1933,  the Republican Party was the minority in the Senate and was unable to block the vote for The New Deal. (The New Deal was legislation that passed in support of social programs and business reform to help people back on their feet following the Depression and to aid the economy. Sound familiar?) The Republicans, being the minority in both houses at the time after losing more seats before the passing of the Second New Deal, argued that FDR was starting class warfare and leaning toward socialism.
     
    The GOP began to split off into two "wings." The left wing supported the New Deal and the right wing opposed. After FDR passed in 1945 and Harry Truman took office, the GOP regained control of the House in 1947. In 1952, Dwight Eisenhower won the election to put a Republican in the Oval Office for the first time in nearly 20 years. He expanded Social Security and built the interstate highway system.
     
    In 1960s, Senator Barry Goldwater fought the "New Deal Coalition" and brought conservatism back to the table. He lost the 1964 election to Johnson, but younger conservatives rallied his message against the welfare state and in the 1980s put Ronald Reagan on the ticket as the GOP representative.
     
    President Ronald Reagan is now the posterboy for Conservatism in the United States today. His support of supply side economics (you know the policies as Reaganomics) was controversial. President Reagan is most known for ending the Cold War. Reagan supported less government and more power in the hands of the people. In his first inaguaral address, he stated, "Government is not the solution to our problems; government is the problem." Reagan inherited a nation with a 7.5% unemployment rate and inflation at 11.83% from Jimmy Carter.
     
    His "Reaganomics" policies helped to grow the economy and jobs over the course of his two term stint as President. He built up our national defense by 40%. He cut spending on social programs such as food stamps and medicaid, but provided growth to entitlements like Social Security and Medicare.
     
    That will conclude Conservatism 101. It is a short history our our party and where we started and a generalization of our ideals and what we want for the future of our country: less taxes, less government, more freedom. Like I stated in the beginning, this is in very simplistic and general terms, but my hope is that I have educated independents or people who are just starting to take an interest in our history and our future a little bit about our past leaders and the opposition that was faced. From there, people can find points to look deeper into, and I hope that they will.
     
    It is important to know your country, know where you came from, and understand why people believe what they do. this should serve as a skeleton for you to fill and I encourage everyone to pass the information on to those whom need it most.

    Future Life of the Party!

    Well, I logged into Fox News's website and was VERY pleased to see exactly what part of our focus is right now: The future of the conservative base.
     

    Republicans Look for Rising Stars to Shape Party's Future

    The next generation of Republicans will have to steer the party back to its conservative roots.

    The Republican Party's doors are open to a new generation of leaders as it regroups and re-evaluates its message in the wake of Tuesday night's crushing defeat at the polls.

    But what that generation should espouse remains up for negotiation.

    "There's always a period of introspection after a loss, as there should be. We need to go back to square one and review our message, the values we communicate and the messengers we choose to communicate them," Republican pollster Whit Ayres said.

    "I think we have to have a bunch of smart people reflecting on these results," he said.

    While the Republican Party may need to return to the ideas of Abraham Lincoln and Ronald Reagan to center itself, the party's next generation of leaders doesn't look like its father's GOP.

    Tomorrow's party leaders defy stereotypes and may seem counterintuitive, said Republican strategist Margaret Hoover. "We're not the old wrinkly guy party anymore.

    "We definitely need some fresh leadership and some fresh faces," Hoover said. "Even on taxes, Barack Obama's tax message got more traction with Americans, so clearly we're not doing something right. The wilderness isn't a bad place to be."

    Strategists say the party should look to its governors to guide its future, especially Sarah Palin.

    "The majority of the most popular governors in the country are Republicans, even in this toxic atmosphere nationally for Republicans," said Ayres.

    "I think Palin is clearly a part of the conversation, but we've also got rising stars like Bobby Jindal in Louisiana, Tim Pawlenty in Minnesota and Charlie Crist in Florida," Ayres said.

    "These are people who have been very successful governors and are very bright popular leaders in their states and an obvious source of talent for the next generation of Republican leadership."

    Jindal, 37, is the first Indian-American governor ever in the U.S., and Pawlenty, 47, was thought to be on John McCain's short-list of potential vice presidential picks prior to his selection of Palin. Crist, 52, was Florida's attorney general before being elected governor in 2006.

    Virginia Rep. Eric Cantor, 45, a fiscal conservative from Richmond, is another one to watch.

    "He's fascinating," Hoover said. 

    Cantor, chief deputy House minority whip since early 2003, intends to run for minority whip, FOX News has learned, moving up the ladder of seniority. It is unclear whether the current GOP whip, Rep. Roy Blunt of Missouri, will seek re-election to his party post.

    The House minority leader, Ohio Rep. John Boehner, 59, said Tuesday that he will seek re-election to his post.

    But old guard conservatives warn that unless Republican congressional leaders return to their roots, they have no place in the leadership.

    They have "failed their party, they have failed the conservatives who make up their party's base, and they have failed the American people. They should resign immediately," Richard A. Viguerie, Chairman of ConservativeHQ.com, said in a statement Wednesday.

    ""Not one cent, and not one minute of volunteer work, should go to the Republican Party until the congressional leadership is replaced with principled conservatives. These leaders still don't understand why the voters have rejected them, and they won't 'get it' until conservatives hit them where it hurts," he said.

    But Hoover said conservatives need to find new ways to address the challenges. One Republican on Hoover's short list of creative thinkers is Wisconsin Rep. Paul Ryan, 38.

    "He's the only guy I know of that's putting forth a health care blueprint," Hoover said. "Americans mostly don't want lower taxes. The reason why is they don't feel like the Bush tax cuts were worth it."

    GOPAC Chairman and former Maryland Lt. Gov. Michael Steele said Republicans need to get back to the basics and focus on the issues that made them popular during the Reagan years.

    "We are a conservative party. We should be proud of that fact. We should not get mired and lost in adding a whole lot to it," Steele said.

    "I think Reagan spoke very clearly to that which is why he was able to make conservatism cool. It was a cool thing to be a conservative and I think that is something we kind of lost sight of. We loaded it up with all kinds of things that probably weighed us down, and people didn't want to carry as baggage," he said. "No one wants to be judged by a political party."

    Steele said Palin, former White House budget chief Rob Portman, 52, and South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford, 48, will help the party move forward.

    "We have a phenomenal farm team, we just never developed it. We never groomed it. And now its time to do that because these are the men and women that are going to have to step up for us and reconnect with the American people," he said.
     
     
    I'm on board with this list. Let's do our best to make sure we stay on top of all these people. Let's research them, keep tabs on what they are doing, and make sure that we become active parts of the their campaigns in anyway that we can. That is a very important part of what we need to accomplish in the next 4 years and beyond. We need to support these people and keep them in check when they are straying from their conservative base. Keep them in the front of our minds!

    Here comes the Revolution: Phase 1

    I have decided, as I have discussed with others, that for my part in the Revolution, I am calling my campaing Operation W's Redemption.
     
    George W. Bush IS STILL our president today. NOT Obama. We have two more months give or take with George Bush in the White House. We still must rally behind him until January 19, 2009. We owe him a debt of gratitude as I have so expressed in my previous blog for 7 years without an attack on US soil and for doing his best to bring our troops home in victory. So with that in mind, I dedicate my campaign to him.
     
    President Bush has been BRUTALIZED by the MSM. Absolutely ripped apart. This country left him for dead years ago. But he rolled with the punches. On that note, I start my part of the Revolution. My goals are the following:
     
    1. To examine Comrade Hussein Obama under the microscope with a fine tooth comb.
    2. To keep digging for the evidence we need to nail Obama to the wall. To push for the release of the tape at the LA Times and this new tape with Michele Obama.
    3. To report the good coming out of Alaska and Louisiana due to the diligent work of Governors Sarah Palin and Bobby Jindal.
    4. To be more active in my local municipalities and help in campaigns in my area for TRUE conservative candidates (and I encourage everyone to do the same). Keep 2010 in mind. Look toward the future because we need to take back the House.
    5. To write editorials, letters to our Congressmen and Senators on State and National levels and make sure they know their role and that they work for US and we will be heard.

    Mission 1 dedicated to Joe Wurzelbacher a.k.a. Joe the Plumber
     
    We launch this campaign immediately! (And thank you to my mother for coming up with this mission!)
     
    Goal: To clog the phone lines and send emails and letters to our wonderful friends, B. Hussein Obama, Joe Gaffes Biden, Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, Barney Frank, and Chris Dodd with requests for our checks. Call, write, and demand to know how much money you qualify for and when you can expect the wealth to be spread to you!
     
    Comrade Hussein showed his true colors and because of it, Joe the Plumber paid the price of an illegal and unethical invasion of his privacy, defended by the liberals of Ohio, his home state.
     
    Pass this along to those you feel will be willing to join in.
     
    This mission is not a goal of  producing "change." This mission's purpose is initial shock value and to prove a point that Obama is right: Words mean something.
     
    So let's start off by giving Obama our backing that we agree with him when it comes to his word. His word should mean something!

    My Last Bash Before Election Day: A Letter to President Bush

    Regardless of what happens tomorrow...
    I would like to thank George W. Bush. MY president (and yours). President Bush has kept us safe for 7 years. That is an impressive record in the dangerous world that we live in today. That is impressive by any standard when there is a man in Iran calling for the destruction of Israel and calling for the end of American imperialism.


    President Bush may not be the most favored President, but he has ALWAYS put country FIRST. You may or may not believe that or agree with it, but President Bush has never pretended to be someone he is not. He has never turned and ran with his tail between his legs.


    When we needed a leader 7 years ago, President Bush stood up and gave us hope. He made us feel safe. He UNITED us.


    I remember how I cried on 9/11. I remember how I felt when I woke up at school in Johnstown, PA and found out that Flight 93 crashed just down the road. I remember the fear when I couldn't use a phone to get ahold of my mother and father. I remember hoping and praying that I would wake up and the Twin Towers would still be standing.

    It was my worst nightmare and I'm sure it was yours. It was fear unlike anything I had ever felt up until that day. The pending threat of anthrax attacks and not wanting to open your mail.

    And then I remember how I felt when President Bush came out and PROMISED us that he wouldn't let it happen again. I remember his firm hand, and kind heart. I remember it all like it happened yesterday. President Bush displayed courage that most men will never know.

    We all need to remember what President Bush promised us 7 years ago.

    To President Bush: Thank you for keeping your word.

    Obama to Bankrupt the Coal Plants (and put my dad out of a job!)

    My dad will lose his job under Barack Obama. He works for one of the biggest energy companies in the United States. We live in the state of PA, which is primarily run on CLEAN COAL technology. Not only does this act put my father and thousands of others out of a job, it puts most of our state out of electricity if the plants have to close down. (And his labor union sends out newsletters telling us to support Obama? They need to rethink their support!)
     
    This puts new meaning to Vote Like America Depends On It.
     
    I just hope it isn't too late to get this information to my dad's coworkers...

    Just a little side note: My father has been working absolutely excruciating hours CONVERTING the current plants into more efficient and more clean plants. They aren't looking to build MORE coal plants. They are converting the current plants and want to go nuclear. And there are signs all along the PA Turnpike advertising CLEAN COAL in Pennsylvania!

    Like Obama, the folks that run The Stranger "newspaper" in Seattle are all about tolerance... as long as you believe the same things they believe. If you don't, well, then you deserve intimidation and a good "outing." just as Obama has tried to intimidate radio talk show hosts, just like he has tried to use the office of the Attorney General to quash political free speech, The Stanger publication has decided that the best way to force citizens of Seattle to toe the far left political line is to have their homes photographed and their addresses made public for the outrageous crime of having a McCain/Palin sign on their property.

    Editorial Director Dan Savage, another boring Seattle gay activist, has helmed this intimidation disguised as "humor" in order to attack his political opposition. Good thing ol' Danny is all "tolerant" and stuff, isn't it?

    The feature was supposed to be a "funny" take on the Halloween "horrors" of homes that have political signs prominently displayed. But, what the end result actually relays is a different kind of horror. This article indulges in exactly the sort of behavior it pretends to despise. What is more intolerant than publicly ridiculing someone, ginning up hatred for them, and then publishing a photo and the address of their home? What is the purpose of this? Is it so that the more unhinged of your putative political compatriots can know just where to go to... what? Take revenge? Perhaps damage private property? Maybe worse?

    The article starts off with this phrase: "Cobwebs and witches are for children and morons." I would counter to Dan Savage that political intimidation and endangering people because of their views is for Stalinists and Nazis.

    Apparently Savage is not only this editor's last name, it is his creed.

    Looks like the wimps over at the gay centered "newspaper" The Stranger don't have the courage of their convictions, amusingly enough. They've pulled their story and re-directed the link to The Drudge homepage.

    Apparently, the Stranger folks just can't take the scorn any more. They know what they did was indefensible and now they are pretending it never existed.

    One thing is sure. If I had a dollar for every time the curse word f_ _k appeared in this "newspaper" I could comfortably retire after but a month of issues. Apparently literacy is a four letter word to these high-minded inteleckshuals.

    These intimidation tactics by the left have got to be put to a stop. This was a danger to the families in those homes.
     
    Look, there are a lot of people out there that are loca en la cabasa. Just a few days ago, a plot by two skin heads was thwarted in which they planned on assininating Obama, other members of government, and beheading people in the name of White Supremecy. I don't condone anything of the sort and people like that belong in a padded room until the day they die.
     
    So, what is to say that if Obama doesn't get elected some crazed supporter of his doesn't go looking for the people from this report and using it as a hit list? I can already hear the left telling me this idea is far fetched and that I am the one whom belongs in padded room. Only the right could be capable.

    Didn't Chevy Chase say that he hoped Sarah Palin was decimated?
     
    Weren't the left the ones rioting outside of the RNC?
     
    Hold on...here's my proof if your memory is sketchy. (I've even thrown you a bone and grabbed the report from CNN) RNC Rioting
     
    Did't the left storm the stage at various Ann Coulter speeches? Didn't the left come into the House and shout down General David Petreaus?
     
    Now who has shouted down Barack Obama? Who has stormed the stage when he was speaking? Who has destroyed public property and smashed windows when Obama was in town? Who has tried to get people to vote fraudulently for McCain?
     
    Wake up America.

    I'm a Selfish American...and PROUD

    Barack Obama has done it again. Now that is he done accusing our soldiers of "air rading villages and killing civilians" he has turned on the American civilians.
     
    We are selfish.

    The American Dream is to EARN you success. Not to have it handed to you. Otherwise, it's just the American Hand Out. That's taking someone else's American Dream and making it another person's against their will.
     
    Most of us tend to be charitable people. We give money to fundraisers, to the Red Cross, the United Way, Make a Wish Foundation, The Salvation Army. I was living in Wichita, KS, just half hour from Greensburg where a tornado competely decimated an entire town. I donated clothes. I give money to charities (it may just be a few dollars, but a few dollars from everyone goes a long way!), I give money to the food pantry every Thanksgiving and put money in the pots at Christmas. I send packages to soldiers overseas every single month. I give money to disaster relief when hurricanes and tornados hit.

     I'm charitable on my own accord and help the people that I believe DESERVE help and actually NEED help. Not the people who sit idlely by and wait to get a piece of my paycheck. It is my right to decide who and what receive my money.
     
    The McCains and Bush families are both extremely charitable. Senator Obama hasn't even donated 1% of his yearly income to charity. In a ten year period, Joe Biden gave less than $4,000 to charity. Now if they don't feel that they have to be charitable, why do they feel that it is okay to force the rest of us to be charitiable by taking from us and deciding on their own who the money goes to?
     
    But no. I am selfish.I need most of my money to pay my carnote and my student loans. Does that make me selfish? I need my money to feed, cloth, and diaper my son. Does that make me selfish? I need my money to keep myself fed and clothed. Does that make me selfish? I need my money to save for my retirement and to save for my son's future and his education. Does that make me selfish?
     
    If that makes me selfish, then I am selfish. I don't work to secure the future of someone else's child, of someone else's dream. I work to achieve MY dream. To achieve MY future. To secure a future for MY son that I brought into this world. I practice self reliance and personal responsibility.
     
     
    Hold onto your money and your guns folks.
