The Spade is Finally a Spade

Yesterday, it was announced that RINO (Republican in Name Only) Pennsylvania Senator Arlen Specter will be running for re-election in 2010 as a Democrat. *Cue Music* Nah-nah-nah-nah. Nah-nah-nah-nah. Hey hey hey! GOOD BYE!!!

It only took 29 years for Senator Specter to give up on the facade that he is actually a Republican and join the rest of the pigs at the liberal trough. (Now if only Senators Snowe and Collins would give it up.)

Senator Specter had the following to say about switching parties:

"I have been a Republican since 1966. I have been working extremely hard for the party, for its candidates and for the ideals of a Republican Party whose tent is big enough to welcome diverse points of view.

While I have been comfortable being a Republican, my party has not defined who I am. I have taken each issue one at a time and have exercised independent judgment to do what I thought was best for Pennsylvania and the nation.

Since my election in 1980, as part of the Reagan Big Tent, the Republican Party has moved far to the right. Last year, more than 200,000 Republicans in Pennsylvania changed their registration to become Democrats. I now find my political philosophy more in line with Democrats than Republicans.

When I supported the stimulus package, I knew that it would not be popular with the Republican Party. But, I saw the stimulus as necessary to lessen the risk of a far more serious recession than we are now experiencing.

Since then, I have traveled the state, talked to Republican leaders and office-holders and my supporters and I have carefully examined public opinion. It has become clear to me that the stimulus vote caused a schism which makes our differences irreconcilable.

On this state of the record, I am unwilling to have my 29-year Senate record judged by the Pennsylvania Republican primary electorate. I have not represented the Republican Party. I have represented the people of Pennsylvania.

I have decided to run for re-election in 2010 in the Democratic primary."

As Michael Steele so eloquently pointed out, Specter's party switch was merely a political move to ensure his re-election. Pennsylvania Republicans are furious with Specter and have no intention of re-electing him. So to switch parties in a blue state certainly serves his purpose more than ours.

At the Pittsburgh Tea Party, when Specter's name was dropped regarding the Generational Theft Act, Pennsylvania residents began to boo and call out that he's "fired."

What Specter fails to realize is that our displeasure with him has NOTHING to do with party. It has to do with principle and ideals, which he certainly is lacking. Last fall, he cackled and cracked jokes with our own joke of a Governor, Ed Spend-ell (as my boyfriend so affectionately refers to him) about Sarah Palin. The Associate Press reported back in November:

Specter was asked if the Republican Party now belongs to Palin.

He flatly answered "No," to laughter and applause. He then said, "If my answer needed amplification, I would've done so."

Rendell then quipped, "I think the answer to that is, 'you betcha.'"

Very professional, Governor.

The truth of the matter is, Sarah Palin is a threat and so are the rest of the true up and coming conservatives in the GOP. People are tired of the same old politics as usual and Specter's switch to the Democratic Party just further proves that he is more of the same. He didn't read the stimulus bill, yet had no problem passing it. He knew it wouldn't be popular with the GOP, but it also wasn't popular with the thousands of constituants that blew up his phone line and his email (which by the way, went unanswered until he sent out a blast email in late March, over a month after the bill was passed, defending his lack of representation of his constituants requests to REPRESENT THEM).

Specter's path of corruption may continue, seeing as how Pennsylvanians somehow love to re-elect crooks ad nauseum. (Ahem, Congressman Murtha).

It may be too late for Pennsylvania, but I know where my vote lies.

Senator Specter, you don't have my vote. You never did and you certainly didn't do a thing to earn it.

Good riddance to bad rubbish.

The Fat/Global Warming Conspiracy

Last night on the O'Reilly Factor, the debate came up regarding the newest globull warming theory. Global warming is now caused by overweight people. Let's go to the video:

There are many things wrong with this. More than I can possibly begin to name...but I'm gonna try!

The first thing I would like to say is regarding intervening with children in schools. Schools should provide healthy food for students. Yes, I agree with that. But that has been in debate for an extremely long time. But let me tell you this: If I pack my son's lunch and in it maybe as a treat I give him a cookie and a juicebox and the teacher confiscates those items they are going to have an irrate parent on their hands.

I give Jordan both juice and water. I'll give him whatever I well please. This woman claims that we should be the "parent" and not let the kids make the decision, yet liberals are trying to be the parent and put the biological parents on the back burner.

Now, getting back to the main point I want to make.

Cap and trade is the government's brilliant plan to fund nationalized healthcare. (Along with taxing things like soda and tax hikes on things such as alochol and cigarettes.) While watching this segment a HUGE lightbulb went off.

I know how they are going to tax the obese and it comes from universal healthcare. The Obama Administration wants to put all of our medical records in electronic form, and the government would have access to those records because of course, they are going to be regulating what types of procedures and what type of care we are approved for. (Lord, help us.)

Well, with medical records online for them to view, that is where we will find the heights and weights of all Americans.

And that is where they will figure out who they are going to tax to "save the environment".

Sound logical? The more I see going on here, the more things are coming to swing around full circle. The bits and pieces are starting to come together.

The puzzle it is forming is mighty terrifying.

Obama Admin ask to Toss Iranian Embassy Hostage Lawesuit

Obama Administration Wants Judge to Toss Embassy Hostage Suit

In court papers filed Tuesday night without any announcement, the Justice Department argued that the agreement to release the hostages, known as the Algiers Accords, precluded lawsuits against Iran.

The Obama administration has asked a federal judge to throw out a lawsuit against Iran filed by Americans held hostage at the U.S. Embassy in Tehran 30 years ago.

The request comes in a $6.6 billion class-action lawsuit filed in U.S. District Court in Washington. Fifty-two American diplomats and military officials were held captive for more than a year at the end of Jimmy Carter's presidency by a group of Islamist students who supported the Iranian revolution.

The hostages were released on Jan. 20, 1981, just minutes after Ronald Reagan was sworn in as the new president.

In court papers filed Tuesday night without any announcement, the Justice Department argued that the agreement to release the hostages, known as the Algiers Accords, precluded lawsuits against Iran.

A similar lawsuit brought by the Iranian hostages was dismissed in 2000 after the government successfully argued it was banned by the Algiers Accords. The hostages argue that legislation passed by Congress last year and signed into law by President George W. Bush gives them the right to bring private lawsuits.

But the Justice Department argued that the law does not mention the Algiers Accords, much less explicitly repeal them.

"The gratitude of the United States for the service and dedication of these brave individuals cannot be overstated, nor can the suffering and abuse they endured on behalf of this country be exaggerated; these matters are beyond dispute," the Justice Department wrote in its filing.

The hostages argue that Iran supported their confinement and abuse, with visits from government officials, stays in government prisons and buildings and threats of trial in Iranian courts. The lawsuit says current Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad was one of their interrogators.

The lawsuit says the hostages were tortured, beaten sometimes until they lost consciousness and kept in fear of their lives, at times even lined up in front of marksmen locking their guns. It says they were imprisoned without adequate food, clothing or medical care, blindfolded with their hands tied, interrogated for hours at a time and kept in isolation for months at a time.

The original plaintiffs are three of the hostages -- Charles Scott of Jonesboro, Ga., David Roeder of Alexandria, Va., and Don Sharer of Mansfield, Texas -- and the wife and daughter of another hostage, Barry Rosen, from New York City.

-------

And once again, you find a completely disgruntled American Sweetheart.

Highlighted in red above, you will see what happened to Americans that were held hostage. Yet, when we take prisoners of war, doctors are on hand during interrogations, they are well fed, are able to practice their religion, have time with the other prisoners for activities, can watch tv, and are allowed outside.

Being it Gitmo may not be a weekend in a 5 star resort, but it sure as hell beats this type of treatment! (Oh and most of the people in Gitmo succeeded in killing or attempted to kill Americans and have provided information to save the lives of Americans.)

And Obama wants to toss this? Boy does he care about the pain and suffering of Americans! *rolls eyes*

Disgraceful.

The Scary, The Bad, and the Absolutely Insane

It's only Tuesday, and this week has already been more than I can honestly stomach.

The news is giving me heartburn. Everytime I turn on the television or pull up a news website or blog, my stomach does a somersault.

Within the past week, myself and millions of others have been accused of being domestic terrorists (Umm...I thought "terrorist" was a forboden term? Oh, only when it comes to Muslim extremists. They are just misunderstood and "man caused disasters".)

I printed and read the Homeland Security report on my way to work this morning. It took every ounce of self control that I have not to scream at the top of my lungs at how completely out of line and unfounded the claims were. It was dispicable. Let's explore some of the claims:

Rightwing extremists have capitalized on the election of the first

African American president, and are focusing their efforts to recruit new

members, mobilize existing supporters, and broaden their scope and appeal

through propaganda, but they have not yet turned to attack planning.

I attended the Tea Parties, as did many of you. Was ANYONE talking about race? Was ANYONE trying to incite rioting or recruiting members into the KKK? (I didn't see any pointed hoods at my local Tea Party. No burning crosses...nothing.)

Isn't it also possible that there were LEFT WING people that are racist and didn't want a black president? Oh, all liberals are perfect and none of them are capable of being RACIST or SEXIST. (Explain sexism to Hillary Clinton and Sarah Palin. Wait, you don't have to! They understand how quickly the left turns on you all too well!)

The possible passage of new restrictions on firearms and the return of

military veterans facing significant challenges reintegrating into their communities

could lead to the potential emergence of terrorist groups or lone wolf extremists

capable of carrying out violent attacks.

Most people I know are stocking up on ammo because it is about to be outrageously taxed. They are also buying up guns while they still can to protect themselves in the event of a crisis or attack. Not to START the attack, but to protect their families.

The current economic and political climate has some similarities to the

1990s when rightwing extremism experienced a resurgence fueled largely by an

economic recession, criticism about the outsourcing of jobs, and the perceived threat to

U.S. power and sovereignty by other foreign powers.

Shouldn't EVERYONE be outraged by the economic situation? Shouldn't EVERYONE be upset about AMERICAN JOBS being outsourced to New Dehli and Manilla? I'm quite certain that conservatives are not the only people that have lost jobs.

My personal favorite part of the report was this:

The DHS/Office of Intelligence and Analysis (I&A) has no specific

information that domestic rightwing* terrorists are currently planning acts of violence,

but rightwing extremists may be gaining new recruits by playing on their fears about

several emergent issues. The economic downturn and the election of the first

African American president present unique drivers for rightwing radicalization and

recruitment.

Okay, so they admitt this is complete speculation.

This is not the country I love. This is not the country I believe it to be when we are accusing people of being terrorists man-caused-disasters for wanting lower taxes and reasonable government spending and accountability. It is a sick and sad world that we live in when believing in the Constitution of my own country makes me a danger to my fellow Americans. It is even more sad when our men and women in uniform are being accused of being domestic terrorists for doing nothing wrong at all, yet our head of Homeland Security turns a blind eye to kidnappings and beheadings occuring on our very own borders. The worst of it on the border of the state that SHE WAS GOVERNOR OF. The new governor is now pleading for something to be done to control the situation on our border.

On top of it all, our fearless leader cowers to every rogue leader that criticizes the country that he claims to love. Our "leader" has chosen to go on a world tour to offer apologies to every country that ever thought the US did something wrong, even if we did something to help others and the outcome was positive. He has bowed to the Saudi King, cuddled up to Chavez, and President I'm-in-a-jihad over in Iran is in positive shambles laughing at us and how weak the US is becoming and bragging openly about being so much closer to having a nuclear bomb.

And Obama does NOTHING.

But I am the dangerous one. And so are you. And so is my brother that just left his family for the second time to keep us safe and ensure our freedom and the freedom of the people of Iraq.

Yesterday and today, the big news was that Obama released the memos from the CIA about what methods we use to obtain information from TERRORISTS that have SAVED OUR LIVES and prevented more than 20 major attacks on US soil. Even though we are no longer allowed to use these methods, our enemy now knows what lengths we are willing to go to to obtain information.

Former VP Dick Cheney is calling for the release of the memos detailing what important and life saving information came from these interogations, but that information isn't important. What is important is that right now the left and Obama are doing everything in their power to set it up so that President Bush and Vice President Cheney spend the rest of their days in jail for DOING THEIR JOB and putting the lives of Americans FIRST.

I am absolutely SICKENED by what is happening.

**UPDATE** My brother has arrived safely overseas. Thank you for your continued prayers. My family certainly appreciates them!

Intolerant Leftists and Miss California

I've had a day or so to really let this whole situation with Miss California sink it. After watching the video footage from the Miss America Pagent a few times and the footage of Perez Hilton's horrible video blog, I've come up with my own assessment of the situation.

Just to recap, when pagent judge Perez Hilton asked Miss California for her stance on gay marriage, Carrie Prejean gave the following answer:
"We live in a land where you can choose same-sex marriage or opposite. And you know what, I think in my country, in my family, I think that I believe that a marriage should be between a man and a woman. No offense to anybody out there, but that's how I was raised."

There is nothing hateful about Ms. Prejean's answer. It was honest. She stated that it was a personal belief, not the end all be all and what the law should be. She simply stated how she felt.

Now, Mr. Hilton responded by going home and crying on his blog and calling Ms. Prejean horrible names. Here is where my beef really comes in.  Perez stated that what she SHOULD have answered was that the states should have the power to decide. Fine. I agree with that. However, THE PEOPLE of those states should cast that deciding vote. Ms. Prejean stated where her vote would stand, which was part of the question.

The biggest problem I have with this situation overall is that Perez is not being entirely honest in his blog. What he REALLY wanted Ms. Prejean to answer was "I think gay marriage should be legal in all states." Period. Perez Hilton is openly gay and quite honestly that question was a set up. It was dispicable and completely out of line to ask such a private and controversial question in a contest where the contestant is going to offend people no matter what her answer.

One of the viewers of the show said, "It's ugly," said Scott Ihrig, a gay man, who attended the pageant with his partner. "I think it's ridiculous that she got first runner-up. That is not the value of 95 percent of the people in this audience. Look around this audience and tell me how many gay men there are."

Nobody asked what the values of the audience were. The question was asked what Miss California's values were. She answered honestly, which would have been better than playing into the hands of others and losing her identity. Also, the Miss America pagent has traditionally not been about pleasing gay people.

For as long as I can remember, Miss America has been a time honored tradition to be enjoyed by ALL AMERICANS. Miss America is supposed to be a person that Americans can look up to because not only is she beautiful on the outside, but she is kind hearted, intelligent, talented, and truely a positive role model. She is something to strive to be.

I admitt, last year when TLC was running the makeover of the Miss America Pagent, I watched. These women are smart. They have conviction.

And so does Miss California.

Ms. Prejean has released the following statement:
"I wouldn't have had it any other way. I stated an opinion that was true to myself, and that's all I can do. It did cost me my crown. It is a very touchy subject and [Hilton] is a homosexual, and I see where he was coming from and I see the audience would've wanted me to be more politically correct. But I was raised in a way that you can never compromise your beliefs and your opinions for anything. I feel like I won. I feel like I'm the winner. I really do."

Carrie Prejean IS a winner and a patriot for standing up to the left and for displaying such courage to be true to who she is and what she believes.

Perez Hilton is a nutjob and further shows the intolerance the left has for people that do not agree with them.

Pittsburgh Got Its Tea Party On!

This is American Sweetheart, reporting live (ok...several hours later) from Market Square in downtown Pittsburgh, PA.

Today was a beautiful day. It was 47 degrees and raining. The clouds blanketed the Pittsburgh sky. However, the rain did not stop democracy. It did not cover the hundreds of voices that came out demanding to be heard. The message resonated loud and clear: We The People are taking back OUR country!

I left my building, just one block from Market Square, on my lunch with a sense of excitement that I have not felt toward my country since I attended the Sarah Palin rally back in October. Umbrella overhead and camera in hand, I trotted across the street and entered Market Square. I was stunned.

A sea of people holding signs, flags, and umbrellas completely covered the streets and sidewalks in the small area typically filled at noon with business people and students in search of food. The normal welfare crowd and panhandlers were no where in sight. As we would later hear during the speeches, they were scattered among us. As Glenn Beck would say, "We surround them." And we truely did. The moochers were burried by the patriotic and the concerned.

The event commenced with an opening prayer given by a local priest. He blessed our country and asked for the Lord our God to help our leaders find reason. We then recited the Pledge of Allegience. When we got to the part "one nation, under God", the crowd grew louder over the words "under God".

The Pledge was followed by a local girl named Emily singing the National Anthem. (Emily I believe is well known for singing at sporting events, if I am thinking of the correct girl.). But Emily's voice was not the only one singing. The whole crowd sang and I was more proud to be an American than ever before. To be a part of something bigger than myself is quite an extraordinary experience. To be surrounded by so many people, so many minds and hearts that felt what I felt, that just wanted to be heard, was overwhelming.

The opening speaker said something that was incredibly simple yet profound. "It is not 'we the government.' It is 'We the People' one Nation, under God." She also stated that a free country is ran by we the people.

She went on to say that Democracy does not pass bills they did not read. This lead to an attack on Arlen Specter, our wonderful RINO that passed a stimulus bill that he did not read. The crowd began yelling things like "You're fired, Specter!" and booed and promised he will be gone. Some people chanted "Toomey."

The fact that we were being accused by Homeland Security of being right wing extremists was touched on. We all cheered. If I am an extremist for loving my country and believing in the Constiution, then so be it.

Yes. Today was a beautiful day.

Here is a video of Quinn from Quinn and Rose speaking and getting the crowd fired up. You'll note that some of the moochers I referred to earlier can be heard...but we were louder. It's an incredible speech. I only got about 4 minutes of it, but hit some great points.

**SIDE NOTE** My brother leaves for Iraq on Saturday morning. Your thoughts and prayers for his safety are appreciated!
