When Insanity Becomes the Norm

I had a conversation today with a friend about our disgust with the direction of this administration. He commented that it's hard to keep up with all of the truly unthinkable acts being committed by this administration because every day reveals new chaos. But this chaos is what keep the administration going. They have so many balls in the air that the American people cannot focus on one thing and stay on that track long enough to catch on to how ridiculous it is (at least those not paying attention and the ones that enjoy living in ignorance).
 
My response was that the sick thing about it is that its only been 10 months, and I have reached the point where nothing shocks me anymore. I hear that the Safe School Czar supports a group that believes it is okay to molest little boys kinda shrug and say "Yeah, that's about right." (Mind you, I am still outraged. If you subscribe to Sean Hannity's podcast, listen to the last 15 minutes of third hour for my thoughts on Jennings from October 13th.)
 
Two years ago, if you told me that multiple communists would be in the White House (president included) I would have laughed in your face and told you that you belonged in a padded room. Well folks, we are living in the padded room. Everywhere you turn, we have lovers of Mao, admirers of Chavez, fans of Castro and anti-capitalist, free speech trampoling (ok, except when it is liberal speech), corrupt circus freaks. This whole administration is a circus.
 
I think many of us are moving toward apathetic. Not to the point where we are willing to give up the fight, but just to the point where it's like "*Sigh* Another communist appointed and not vetted by the Senate." (Not that the Senate wouldn't confirm these a-holes regardless of their findings!) The radicalism is just being forced through with such speed that I think many feel like this has been going on for years. It certainly is years worth of radicalism!
 
The talking heads say that Obama campaigned as a moderate. I ask "As a moderate what?" He was pro-choice (because remember, children are punishments, not consequences of actions. We have no consequences in Obama-land!). He was pro-partial birth abortion (which is politically correct speech for heinous pre-meditated MURDER), pro-spreading YOUR wealth, anti- 2nd Amendment, anti-drilling (and every other way to become energy independent) and in general, a big fat liar. Tell me what was moderate about him?
 
The insanity is now the norm. Communists and Maoists in every position. We must remain vigiliant though. 2010 elections are drawing near. If we truely are sick of this, then we need to be wide awake when we go to the polls in 2010. We cannot forget this year. We cannot forget when we go to the polls the insults being hurled at us by our own PRESIDENT. By Speaker Pelosi. By Congressman Grayson (Remember...we're a "lie factory"!!!)
 
Don't let the shock wear off. We must remain outraged, even though the administration is becoming throroughly predictable with its appointments and legislation and insults. We cannot afford to sink into our former apathetic slump that allowed us to come to this point to begin with.

"Taxed if you do, taxed if you don't"

My headline today comes from a quote by Congressman Tim Murphy, Republican Representative for the 18th District of Pennsylvania. This is my district.
 
This morning, I attended my first healthcare town hall meeting, lead by Congressman Murphy. I'd like to highlight some of the points he brought up.
 
First and foremost, Cong. Murphy disputed the ever changing number that we most commonly know to be 47 million uninsured Americans, breaking it down into illegal aliens, people who cannot afford insurance and people who choose not to purchase insurance. He said that the amount of people the Baucus Bill says it will cover doesn't add up when broken down into their claims. So we have approximately 47 million uninsured. The Baucus Bill will add 18 million people to Medicaid and allows an additional 30 million people and then 30 million uninsured remaining would qualify for government assistance.
 
Ok, wait. That's 48 million people. We're going to cover 1 million people that do not exist? Interesting. However, the bill claims that it will leave 17-25 million still uninsured. So, as Murphy stated, the figures do not add up. There are many contradictions.
 
The people that qualify for government aid are families making $88, 200 per year and individuals making $43, 320 per year. Everyone else and those who work full time and receive insurance through their employers are not eligible for the public option. But don't worry folks! There is something in this for you too!
 
Taxes, taxes, taxes!
 
The Senate bill is going to raise taxes on all those people that President Obama campaigned he would NOT tax.
 
  • $163 Billionin taxes on businesses that don't offer insurance (8%)
  • $29 Billion in taxes on individuals that don't own insurance. This equals out to $1900 for families, $950 for individuals in the Senate Bill or 2.5% of your income in the House Bill.
  • $201 Billion taxes on people who have insurance
  • 40% tax on additional health care spending (about $21,000 per family)
Congressman Murphy referred to this case as "Taxed if you do, taxed if you don't. Taxed if you will, taxed if you won't." This means that if you do have health insurance, you will pay a tax. If you don't have health insurance, you will pay a tax. If your business offers health insurance, you pay a tax. If your business doesn't offer health insurance, you pay a tax.
All families can expect a $4,000 premium increase under this bill to start. The bill also does the following:
  • Limits health savings and flexible health spending accounts by $14.6 Billion and medical expense reduction by $15.2 Billion
  • Imposes $60 Billion tax on insurance
  • $40 Billion in taxes on medical devices (like my son's nebulizer, a wheelchair, etc)
  • $22.2 Billion in taxes on pharmaceuticals
Those are taxes that will affect EVERYONE. But Obama is so condescending that he told George Stephanopoulos that looking up the term tax in the dictionary proved that George was stretching the truth that all of these taxes are truely taxes. What Obama really was doing was deflecting away from the fact that he is RAISING taxes since George was trying to call Obama's bluff.
 
I had the opporunity to ask a question of the Congressman. I asked him where in the Constitution the government has the right to take over healthcare, the auto industry, banks, etc and pointed out that the Founding Fathers warned against the welfare state and redistributing wealth and running a deficit.  Another person pointed out the spending bills that President Washington had vetoed. Murphy was honest enough to not attempt to justify any of this and said it is unconstitutional. He said that while the government has an obligation to watch out and make some reforms, this is certainly above and beyond the Constitutional restraints laid down by the Founding Fathers.
 
He talked about the tea parties and that we are NOT astroturf and certainly none of us that were present for the town hall were paid to be there. He said that "Several million people cannot be wrong." He went on to say that this bill should be a deliberative process and be slowed down, as designed by the Constitution.
 
He stated that there are things Congress can do to help improve healthcare and lower the cost of insurance by doing the following:
Offering the choice to buy across state lines
Offering the choice to buy in groups (like all Methodists could buy into insurance as a group if they cannot get through employer or are not satisfied with those choices)
A sliding scale for assistance
Quality reforms for Medicaid and Medicare
Transparency (such as hospitals reporting all cases where people die from infections)
Choice to buy a basic plan (yearly doctor visit, coverage for emergency room and catastrophic situations)
 
He touched on the importance of tort reform after a member of the audiance that served in the Navy for the past ten years asked about it. He stated that it is not in the bill but should be in the bill.
 
All in all, Congressman Murphy is against the public option and for more choice for US. He said that before we should begin to move to a public option, we need to fix what is wrong. It is less expensive and we simply do not have the money as a country. He told us what we all know, which is that we are mortgaging our future and borrowing money. The nation is broke.

Afghanistan, Nobel Prizes and Michael Moore's Money

This has been an extremely eventful week. Yet another President that bows down to rogue nations has won an award they didn't deserve and certainly didn't earn. Our soldiers are in desperate need of additional resources and ground troop numbers, and yet Obama is too worried about pleasing his people to man up and make a decision that the lives of other's depend on. And then there is your favorite slob and mine, Michael Moore touting his usual hypocratic and feeble minded gibberish.  
 
I'm going to start with the Michael Moore thing because I need to get this off my chest so that I can have some recovery time before my next meal. (The thought of him makes me want to vomit.) His latest garbage in theaters now is just more liberal propeganda. His interview on Hannity showed so much about how peposterous this man truely is. You can see that he honestly believes this trash. Hannity claims that Moore is a powerful voice, which is true to a degree. But what I really saw was a weakling. I saw a man that when challenged and insulted dissolved into a little boy being picked on at school. His voice became soft and his expressions became meloncholy as he tried to tell Hannity that he just cares so much and why is Sean so mean that he can't just give a bit more of his money to help others.
 
This was Hannity's greatest moment. If Sean Hannity has ever in his entire career said something so powerful, this would be it. He called Moore out for what he is when he told him that he hates capitalism, but doesn't mind the $50 million in earnings from his movie, yet won't volunteer to send MORE money to the IRS. He feels they should pay more in taxes because they are wealthy, yet we don't see Michael Moore sending more money. If he truely believes that redistributing wealth is the way to go, then ante up Michael! When you pay your taxes, add a few more zeros to the check and PROVE that you really believe this trash!
 
The truth is, Michael Moore does believe in wealth redistribution. Just not HIS wealth. He wants YOURS. He wants mine. He wants everyone else to do what he is too selfish to do himself.
 
Now onto Afghanistan along with the Nobel Prize.
 
Last night, O'Reilly had on my least favorite person in the universe, Dr. Marc LaMont Hill. For the first time EVER, I agreed with Dr. Hill. He doesn't believe Obama deserved the award. Many of us don't. How can a man leading two wars win a peace prize based on empty rhetoric? Oh, he's so inspirational! His apology tour really pleased the Nobel panel. Dr. Hill said something last night that made the light bulb turn on above my head. He said winning this award is certainly going to make it harder for Obama to send more troops to Afghanistan in the eyes of the world.
 
And that's when I realized why he was chosen. This award wasn't because he gave the world hope for peace. This award was timely. General McChrystal is asking for more troops, yet Obama is still waivering on the issue. He meets with McChrystal, and decides to mull over it for awhile longer after receiving an update on the ground conditions. Then comes the announcement (which I honestly thought was a joke when I heard it on Fox and Friends yesterday morning). The Nobel Prize was given to Obama not as an award, but as a message. This was a message telling him that he better not send those troops and needs to keep his promise of withdrawal.
 
He won a peace prize at a time when he is being asked to send tens of thousands more troops to Afghanistan. That puts a whole new level of pressure on his decision. We already know that Obama has no problem bowing down to the Saudi King and is too weak to stick it to Ahmadenijad. This is a ploy to get him to withdrawal.
 
Sending more troops to Afghanistan should be a no brainer, but Obama hasn't put the war as his top priority. It's not even in his top 5, though it should be number one seeing as how we are fighting not just one, but two simultaneous wars. McChrystal was right to call him out, and of course San Fran Nan was extremely displeased with this. No one can question the Chosen One!
 
Obama and Michael Moore both need to put their money where their mouth is. MAN UP!

It took 6 weeks, but here comes the indoctrination...

I haven't posted in about a month because I have been busy writing papers for class in place of writing blogs. This semester I am taking History of the American City-which is a class about how Los Angeles, New York and Chicago became global economies and Intro to Political Science for my first 8 weeks and The Politics of Terrorism and Lit 101 the second 8 weeks. (I'm taking accelerated courses).
 
My Poli Sci class so far has been great. My professor never ever shows a favoring of one side of the aisle to the other and has been greatly supportive with regard to my current events assignments, emailing me additional news articles and research materials that she believes would interest me on a personal level and suggesting other courses that she thinks I would excel in for the political science portion of my major. Mind you, I am 1. the only person in that class there for her major and 2. have been outed as the only conservative. I hear people whispering behind me on a regular basis when I give answers in class and poking fun of my beliefs. (It's really funny that most of the things I hear in counter to my statements are totally 100% false.)
 
Well, up until this week I was enjoying my history course to the point of my professor is wildly amusing (and once again, I am the only person in that class for her major and am performing extremely well) and the book is rather interesting. However, I have come to notice a trend in the text. The book is the underlying history of the cities mentioned above and their rise to the top in global economics. There is a lot of real US history in the text, facts, events, etc. I have noticed recently that most of the book is about racial injustice. I don't exactly have an issue with that, except that one black woman in my class constantly makes it known that she hates white people and was so kind as to talk about me to the person next to her throughout my entire presentation on post-Depression Los Angeles that I did the other night (and didn't have very nice things to say about me).
 
That night I was a bit upset during class because we had to watch the movie Chinatown, which we all know was directed by Roman Polanski, the pedophile rapist currently in Swiss Custody. My teacher didn't have much to say about him other than the fact that he was in police custody and kind of dropped it at that.
 
Now, I am sitting here doing a reading assignment in preperation for my final exam and come across this:
The Unwelfare State
These measures, however, ignore government transfer payments that, if included, further increase the gap between the United States and other developed countries. One study that compared six advanced industrial nations (the United States, Sweden, the United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, and Germany) in terms of their social wages did include transfer payments, distinguishing between the net returns to labor and those to capital. This better account of the differences among "welfare states" found that the United States lagged considerably behind other developed nations. Whereas government transfers in other countries tended to reduce inequality, those of the U.S. government not only failed to redistribute wealth to assist workers but over time actually tended to transfer wealth in the opposite direction.
 
Regressive Taxation
Not only declining welfare supports but differential tax burdrens have been responsible for the deteriorating position of the middle-class and poor Americans. As Mishel and Franklin note, "Changes in federal, state, and local taxes since 1977 have worsened the distribution of after-tax income by taxing the middle class and poor more heavily and giving large tax cuts to the richest 1%"

WOW. So the United States is failing because we don't promote monetary equality and give tax breaks to the top tier of people that provide the rest of the country with jobs? How are the middle class and poor taxed more heavily than the richest 1% when that top tier pays approximately 80% of all taxes??
 
Oh it gets better. I am sitting here completing a study guide of possible test questions and one of them is: In the historical Owens Valley vs. Imperial Valley debate, whose side would you be taking and why?
 
Why is my opinion on the aqueduct relavant to the text? How can I possibly be graded on this question fairly? We discussed the case in class and the woman that doesn't like me so well said that the water was diverted to Los Angeles County for the "white people." Okay, the correct answer was that salt water was sent to the orange groves to poison the land so that it could be purchased as wasted land and developed into suburban areas and incorporated into Los Angeles. She REALLY didn't like it when the teacher called on me to correct her completely off base answer and then joked that I should just teach the class.
 
A class that I had originally been enjoying is now turning into a complete liberal mockery, doing its best to pin blacks against whites and bring about more racial divide. It is becoming an extremely uncomfortable environment to sit in as it is a small class of only about 12 people, 3 of whom are black and 1 is from Argentina. So when we get into hispanic injustice, that just makes is worse.
 
I also just learned that my Politics of Terrorism class is taught by a woman that isn't shy about teaching from a liberal angle. A few of our books are Bush bashing books by a bunch of truthers.
 
The semester is starting to get nasty...

Over Charging Consumers=Key to Saving the Economy!

I wanted to share this anecdote with my fellow bloggers about Walmart.
 
My father went to Walmart yesterday to pick up a few items. He came home livid.
 
One of his items was on an endcap advertised as the "Every Day Low Price" of $2.50. The item rung up $3.50. Sometimes the discounts come off at the end. It did not. He alerted the cashier, a young guy, that the item was mis-rung. He didn't fix it. So my dad told him again, that item is advertised at $2.50, will you please correct that?
 
This was the response.
 
He cannot correct it. They are not allowed. If he were to correct all of those misrings then Walmart won't make any money and it is bad for the economy.
 
Say what???
 
So according to Walmart's policy (at least what they are teaching cashiers at the West Mifflin Walmart in Pittsburgh, PA) is that if customers are savy enough to catch items that are supposed to be on sale being misrung, the employees can do nothing to correct it because it hurts the economy and Walmart's business??
 
Wow. You learn something new every day, huh?
 
It's funny because Walmart is supposed to have unbeatable prices. Last week I had to buy algecide for our swimming pool. It shouldn't cost more than about $15. Walmart sells pool chemicals and I was already at Walmart, I was going to get it there. There wasn't a price label on or near the bottle of algecide (the last bottle I might add). When I got to the register and was told my total I almost fell over. I asked how much the algecide was (because I knew how much finger paint and paper for my kid were). $30! I told the cashier to please take it off the order, went to Pool City and paid $14 and change.
 
Watch yourself at Walmart...over charging is what helps the economy if you aren't paying close enough attention.

Eric Massa (D-NY) Knows Best!

 
Once again, insubordinate representatives are showing their true colors. It isn't about representing their constituents and public service. It is about what they believe is best for THEM. Not for us. We know what is best for us, and yet the left continues to insist that they know.
 
You cannot lump all of America into one pot. We are referred to as a melting pot for good reason. Americans strive for individualality. It is encouraged to find out who you are and be the best version of yourself. Yet the left continues to push for uniformity, not unity. Unity is a beautiful thing when we are united with good cause. We are united in that we are all Americans, and that is a special bond that we all share.
 
But uniformity is on the march to strip us of our individual ideals. It robs us of our intelligence, our innovation, imaginations and freedom.
 
We cannot possibly survive as a country if we are all made to be the robots that Congress and this Administration envision. Same health coverage. Same levels of education. Same wages earned. Same aweful, "fuel efficient" cars. Same entitlements for everyone.
 
Well...not everyone. The golden rule will certainly come into play in the utopian fairyland that Obamessiah and his legions of absolute heathens speak of. Those who have the gold, make the rules. That will certainly put a stop to "We the People."
 
Keep speaking up. Revolution is drawing near.

I can't, but the government can. In the system you and I live under, our elected representatives make decisions which we then have to comply with. I like this country. If you don't, you should move somewhere else.

I have news for dear vlad: The country that I live in states the following:

That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, — That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness.

In the country that I live in, the government works for us, not the other way around. Over the past century, presidents and congresses from the likes of the Wilson, FDR, Johnson and Carter administrations have turned the tables to where we are at the mercy of our government. Our freedom is being taken away from us bit by bit.

Our Declaration of Independence, in conjunction with The United States Constitution, explicitly state that the government receives its power from the will of WE THE PEOPLE. Our elected officials are to represent and govern this country based on the wants and needs of their constituents in their respective districts and home states.

They work for us. We sign their paychecks. They are paid from the US Treasury (as dictated by the Constitution), which is the home of WE THE PEOPLE’S hard earned money collected from taxes and other duties.

Let’s say that you own a business. Your employees begin to refuse to comply with the policies and procedures set forth by the company. What would you do if your employees began to refuse compliance with the rules you had put in place? Most likely, you would fire them for insubordination. Well, the time has come for our insubordinate "representatives" to either do their job the way WE see fit, or come 2010, they will need to find a new occupation.

WE THE PEOPLE are about to rebuild our employee base.

Like Vlad, I love my country (ok well, he likes this country). I love my country. I love my fellow countrymen. I believe that this is the greatest country to live in because of what our freedom and liberty afforded to us. As of late, our freedom is being stolen from us at lightening speed. The government is intruding in our lives at every opportunity. They want us to spy on our neighbors and turn them into the White House. They want to control our health care and thus our lives. They control the banking industry, the auto industry and more. All without the consent of WE THE PEOPLE.

They claim to know what is best for us. We don’t know what is best. We don’t know how to raise our children. We don’t know how to be “green.” We are too dumb to ask questions at a Town Hall properly.

I am not moving from my country. I am calling for a reformation back to our core values. Our values that state that WE control the government and the government does not control us. That we can spend our money better than the government can. That we have the freedom to choose our own life style and to succeed or fail.

Never in my life have I actually sat down to READ bills until recently. Many Americans are in the same boat. We are finally standing up and engaging in government, as it is our patriotic duty.

This administration has awakened the sleeping giant.

Desperate Enough in Solitude to Kill

That is a quote from my ex-boyfriend.
 
I keep playing it over and over in my head. He seemed so normal. Like every other twenty-something that loved music, beer, video games and movies when we met.
 
On Tuesday, George Sodini walked into LA Fitness in Bridgeville, PA (a Pittsburgh suburb) and killed 4 people. I knew before it hit the news because a friend of mine and my brother's is a member there. The next morning, I received an email from a manager at work that he would be in late. His wife had been at the gym. One of the women that was seriously injured was a close friend, as was the teacher of the class that 48 year old loner terrorized.
 
Later that morning, my brother sent me the link to Sodini's blog. I have never been so disturbed. This man worked in the building next to mine downtown. A building that my cousin's fiance works in. It made me begin to wonder if I have ever seen him in the courtyard between our buildings before. I walk through that building a few times a week from the train station to shortcut to my own. My manager said he had seen him a few times a month at the gym and never once suspected him of being a homicidal nutcase.
 
He blames his pastor for most of his problems. I am 98% certain that his pastor is the father of an old friend of mine.
 
The blog has been removed from the internet, but I wanted to share with you a few excerpts. I warn you now that this is graphic and upsetting.
 
November 5, 2008:
Planned to do this in the summer but figure to stick around to see the election outcome. This particular one got so much attention and I was just curious. Not like I give a flying f**k who won, since this exit plan was already planned. Good luck to Obama! He will be successful. The liberal media LOVES him. Amerika has chosen The Black Man. Good! In light of this I got ideas outside of Obama's plans for the economy and such. Here it is: Every black man should get a young white girl hoe to hone up on. Kinda a reverse indentured servitude thing. Long ago, many a older white male landowner had a young N*gro wench girl for his desires. Bout' time tables are turned on that sh*t. Besides, dem young white hoez dig da bruthrs! LOL. More so than they dig the white dudes! Every daddy know when he sends his little girl to college, she be bangin a bruthr real good. I saw it. "Not my little girl", daddy says! (Yeah right!!) Black dudes have thier choice of best white hoez. You do the math, there are enough young white so all the brothers can each have one for 3 or 6 months or so.
 
This man was white. I didn't know until I saw his photo after I read the blog. I have never in my life seen such anger toward females. In his blog, he goes on to describe himself as a loner that 30 million women have rejected. He blames his brother, his mother, his pastor and others for screwing him up. He details how people at work believed that he was quite the ladies man, however he had not slept with a woman since he was 29 years old.
 
Over and over, he describes his life as a recluse. At the very end, he mentions the name of a girl that he got pregnant and says that he hasn't seen her since she was 4 months pregnant. He lists the names and addresses of everyone that the world can blame for his actions.
 
He over and over refers to his "exit plan." He never says that he intends to shoot up a gym and then take his own life except to call it the exit plan. He describes practice runs, mentions having a loaded gun and the time he chickened out.
 
His last entry reads as follows:

August 3, 2009:
I took off today, Monday, and tomorrow to practice my routine and make sure it is well polished. I need to work out every detail, there is only one shot. Also I need to be completely immersed into something before I can be successful. I haven't had a drink since Friday at about 2:30. Total effort needed. Tomorrow is the big day.

Unfortunately I talked to my neighbor today, who is very positive and upbeat. I need to remain focused and absorbed COMPLETELY. Last time I tried this, in January, I chickened out. Lets see how this new approach works.

Maybe soon, I will see God and Jesus. At least that is what I was told. Eternal life does NOT depend on works. If it did, we will all be in hell. Christ paid for EVERY sin, so how can I or you be judged BY GOD for a sin when the penalty was ALREADY paid. People judge but that does not matter. I was reading the Bible and The Integrity of God beginning yesterday, because soon I will see them.

I will try not to add anymore entries because this computer clicking distracts me.

Also, any of the "Practice Papers" left on my coffee table I used or the notes in my gym bag can be published freely. I will not be embarased, because, well, I will be dead. Some people like to study that stuff. Maybe all this will shed insight on why some people just cannot make things happen in their life, which can potentially benefit others.
 
The last line is what makes me over and over think of what my ex said. It makes me think about what solitude does to a person, especially self inflicted solitude. Someone that shuts out the world as Sodini did...and as my ex does and did to me and our son. Do I think that my ex is a disaster in the making? I don't know...I wish I knew. The problem is that we really never know what anyone is really capable of. It's hard to distinguish at times someone who is talking out because they crave attention from someone that is a viable threat.
 
I read a book about two years ago called "The Suicidal Mind." It is a book detailing (complete with interviews) life after attempted suicide. It chronicals 4 different people that attempted suicide, but survived their attempts. They speak of their misery, their depression, anger and what drove them over the edge.
 
The girl that struck me the most's name was Ariel Wilson. She attempted to take her life out of a desperate need to be loved. To be coveted, to be needed by other. She attempted to take her own life by immolating herself.
 
I will never in my life forget how Ariel described the emotion that she felt moments before she lit the match, as she sat in her car, completely drenched in gasoline: "I was making these decisions and I don't remember thinking of my sadness or the things that were breaking my heart. It was kind of like the end of things I was thinking about, that I would be no more, that I would hurt no more. It was going to be good...It was going to be something that would fullfill me...I don't remember thinking about a whole lot of things, but I felt very calm. I felt very good. I felt a kind of hush over my body, that is was going to be okay...I got the matches out and even then no thoughts went through my head at all of the pain that it was going to entail, the misery, the hurt, any of that. It amazes me now that I really didn't think that the burns would really hurt...It was the first time, in fact, that I felt at peace, that I wasn't hurting inside."
 
I had to go back to the book to pull the quotes, but this was a passage that I have never forgotten. I could hear her voice and so clearly picture this young college girl, sitting in her car with a smile on her face as she struck the match. Ariel did die 3 years after the incident at age 22 of natural causes while in the hospital being treated with the flu.
 
While Ariel did not attempt to take the life of another, she did attempt to take her own and for many of the same reasons that George Sodini walked into that gym and took the lives of others and his own. They both said basically the same thing: Their pain would be gone and they both felt that by taking their own life, they would finally succeed at something.
 
This all made me begin to think and beg the question: was there ever a point in which this man could have been helped? Are people like this truely a lost cause? At what point do they decide that they need to take people down with them? We see it so often on the news in the case of suicide bombers, but many of them are on "religious mission" or have been brainwashed for their entire lives that this was the thing to do to bring them to salvation.
 
The events that happened at the gym the other night have sparked a lot of conversation in the area. I have overheard many conversations the past few days regarding Sodini and what he did. People have all been helplessly asking the same questions:
How did no one see this coming?
If he was blogging about this, why did no one report him?
What if he had done this at work, or right outside in the courtyard where we all frequent on our breaks to eat, smoke or read?
Was there anyone that he gave a clue to?
What made him think there was no other way?
What went through his mind, or what happened that he didn't say that made him have such disdain for females?
 
Above all: How many other people out there are a ticking time bomb like this guy?
 
My manager who's wife was at the gym mentioned to me that people need to band together to read through blogs and Myspace accounts and Facebook and look for these blantant signs. On top of his relief that his wife is alive, the biggest question this has raised for him was "What if I had had to tell my daughter that Mommy wasn't coming home?"
 
What if this man had done this outside while I was sitting reading in the courtyard and someone had to explain to my son in a few years what happened to Mommy? What if he had done this in his building, where my cousin's fiance works, and someone had to tell her that she wouldn't be getting married next month?
 
We have an obligation as citizens to watch for signs and to report strange behavior. Do not live in fear of how people will react. This is not an obligation to spy or to pry into someone's personal life. This is an obligation as Americans to each other to protect our families, our friends, and our country. What's the worst that could happen from reporting a blogger that is talking crazy? That you save a life? That you get a person the help they need to pull their life together?
 
I hope that this entry is taken seriously and that I have given everyone some insight into the minds of different types of people that are feeling desperate and the harm that they could possibly inflict not just on others, but on theirselves. Not all cases are the same. Things like this happen for so many different reasons, but in my research over the years I have learned that almost all cases have certain consistant themes and patterns.

Where exactly is Madame Speaker hiding the Swastikas?

I am appalled. I don't even know at this point if appalled is the right word. My feelings the past few weeks have been changing at a rate that is beginning to make me believe I am suffering from some sort of mental illness. Maybe I have too much norepinephrine or something. (Google it. Better yet, go to the library.)

 I began at upset, moved into angry and onto stunned. Now I am so completely disgusted by this government machine that it's all I can do to STOP reading the blogs and turn off the news.

 But no...I'm sucked in.

 I was about to put my son to bed last night when I heard from the tv in the next room Madame Speaker utter words that I simply could NOT believe. People at the Townhalls and Tea Parties had SWASTIKAS?

 Riddle me this, Madame Speaker: WHICH town hall or tea party? Just name me one. There is a whole internet out there of photos and video footage. Just pick one and show me the Swastika.

 I'll wait.

 But no. It didn't end there.

 Then came the DNC's latest piece of anti-grassroots, anti-free speech, anti-American propaganda. Perhaps you are familiar with this little diddy:


 

I was actually amused the first time that me, and the rest of the tea party goers were accused of being domestic terrorists. (I'm sure the Veterans were just as amused...Secretary Napolitano. How's that apology coming, by the way?) Have we graduated to angry mob or been downgraded to angry mob?

I've attended two Tea Parties now (and helped organize one) and witnessed an AIG protest. I didn't see anyone wearing Brooks Brothers. I also didn't see any buses. I did, however, see a lot of people from the community. I met some incredibly nice people. I saw people from my high school and colleges (some that I was frankly shocked to see). I saw parents and their children.

But most of all, I saw people being RESPECTFUL. I saw people coming together PEACEFULLY to express their displeasure with their representatives NOT REPRESENTING THEM.

How dare the government tell us that we don't know what is good for us. How dare they accuse YOU of being a terrorist or of being paid off or rallied up by some insurance company. WE sign THEIR paychecks.

Hannity had a caller, Chica, on his radio show today. She was one of his regular liberal callers. Her beef: the disruptive GOP lobbyists at the town hall meetings.

She opined that they people were being disrespectful and wouldn't listen to the debate and add anything constructive.

Here's my response to Chica: These so called "representatives" were there to SELL their product. They claim they were there to "debate" but there cannot be a debate if the opposition doesn't have the opportunity to speak. The DNC is TERRIFIED. They know that their jobs are in jeopardy, but the problem is at the same time, they don't seem to care. Their job is to vote the way their constituents wish them to vote. But they aren't. They claim that we don't know what's good for us.

How insulting is that? Aren't you completely insulted that some empty suit on the beltway is trying to control your every decision because YOU don't know what is good for you?

In addition to these citizens speaking their minds after sitting at home for MONTHS yelling at their TV, hoping to be heard by someone that they are fed up, let me remind you about the left.

  • Ann Coulter was speaking at a college and the liberal students stormed the stage and threw things at her because they didn't like what she had to say.
  • Alberto Gonzales was shouted down while speaking by World Can't Wait, a Bush hate group, because he (and this is a direct quote from a member of this radical group) "gets to talk all the time. It's our turn to talk."
  • Code Pink stormed into Congress and tried to shout down General David Petreaus as he was giving his assessment on the situation in Iraq.
  • Code Pink terrorized our Marines in Berkeley, California.
  • Code Pink snuck into the RNC convention last summer and tried to shout down John McCain during his acceptance speech.
  • The West Baptist Church is PROTESTING our military's funerals, completely disrespecting our fallen soldiers and their families.
  • ACORN was illegally entering seized homes that were foreclosed on and disrupting home auctions (when they are a part of the reason that people's homes are being foreclosed on to begin with because they just had to have everyone own a home, regardless of their ability to PAY THE MORTGAGE).

The list goes on.

Perfectly acceptable behavior when these ORGANIZED GROUPS want to cause a ruckus.

Sorry that this blog is so all over the place. I haven't had much opportunity to write lately and I have many thoughts just swarming around my head that I had to get out. This is more a rant than anything.

Incentive #1 to buy into Cash for Clunkers? VIP Parking!

It's obvious to anyone with half a brain what the downfalls of Cash for Clunkers are. Less scrap parts for older vehicles. Less used vehicles to purchase. People buying cars they can't afford... The list goes on.
 
But have no fear! The econuts have come up with incentive to 'Go Green!' (Lord help me, I hate that phrase.)
 
Here, I present to you, the best reason to trade in your perfectly good car for a new car that you probably cannot afford anyway:

That's right! Green Vehicle Parking. First 5 spots of the garage...right next to the handicap parking.
 
These spots are in 3 garages in The South Side Works outdoor shopping and dining area in Pittsburgh. Today, I had to park in one of these garages and was revolted to see these signs. I pulled into the garage and low and behold, a car was pulling out in one of the first spots. Woo hoo for me! Or so I thought. I went to pull in, only to see this sign on display.
 
Seriously?
 
Yeah, seriously.
 
So, I pulled out and drove a few more levels up, only to pull in next to the car that had originally been in that spot, the owner also disgusted by what he had pulled into the Green Spot to discover.
 
Now, explain to me how this is fair? I have a CHRYSLER vehicle that I just paid off (so it's a fairly new car...only 55,000 miles on it). I've never had a problem with it. I get decent gas mileage. Oh! And I just had to give Chrysler additional money to help bail them out!
 
BUT...because my car isn't considered "green enough," I have to park in the upper levels of the lot and haul my young child back down through the garage to the street.
 
Consider this for me now, if you will.
 
One of the last times that I drove into town to work, it took me 30 minutes in rush hour to get out of the parking garage! Thirty minutes of IDLING through 5 levels of parking lot in my morally reprehensible vehicle. Wouldn't it make more sense for the sake of the environment to make the GREEN vehicles park further away from the lot entrance/exit?
 
I'm just sayin...

The Liberty Belle

Today I decided to take a historic trip with my son. Okay, it wasn't really much of a trip seeing as how I only had to drive about 2 miles, but still nonetheless, it was to see a piece of our country and the world's history.
 
The Allegheny County Airport was doing free tours of the B-17 Liberty Belle. Before the tours began, the airport was offering flights (they were rather pricey, but Jordan and I did get to see it fly over our backyard. A good view since like I said, we only live about 2 miles from the airport).
 
The Liberty Belle was the only bomber to return from a mission of 9 planes that attacked Dusseldorf, Germany on September 9, 1944. It flew 64 missions before being retired on February 18, 1945.

Robin Hood and Prince John: A Tangled Web of Obama

The Disney version of Robin Hood has always been one of my favorite movies. I have not seen it in years, but now that it is on DVD I bought it so that Jordan could enjoy the tale for himself.
 
Now that Jordan's attention span is growing, we are starting to watch more movies together. Last night I decided it was time to pull out Robin Hood (it's been sitting on the dvd shelf for a few months now). I was once again, surprised to be taking notes on a children's movie to blog about. I put it on again this morning at Jordan's urging and had my dad sit down to listen to some of the lines with us.
 
At the beginning of the movie, Little John and Robin Hood are hiding in a tree from the royal soldiers. The following conversation transpires:
Little John: I was just wondering, are we good guys or bad guys? Ya know, our robbing the rich to feed the poor?
Robin Hood: Rob? That's a naughty word! We never rob! We just sort of borrow from those who can afford it.
Little John: Borrow? Boy are we in debt!
 
A few minutes later they cut to Prince John, riding in his royal carriage playing with gold coins, crying out gleefully: "Taxes! Taxes! Beautiful, lovely taxes! Rob the poor to feed the rich!"
 
It all got me thinking more about the story...who is in the right and who is wrong? Prince John was a tyrant. He taxed the people of Nottingham until they had nothing left. They took money from the poor box at the church and squeezed every last penny from all citizens, even the children.
 
Robin was praised and admired as a hero for taking the money back to distribute to the citzens of Nottingham.
 
The more you look into it though, Robin Hood and Prince John are one in the same and they both sound very much like the Obama Administration. They claim that they will take from the rich to distribute to the poor, but when you look at their programs, they are going to squeeze every last drop from all of us, no matter which social class we hail from.
 
Class warfare is about to get nastier than any of us have ever seen. Obama isn't going to be able to carry on like this forever before people start to truely revolt. His faithful followers believe that they are now entitled to free housing, free fuel in their vehicles and healthcare. Some think that reparations are coming from slavery.

It's not going to happen. Not as they envision it. Once healthcare and Cap and Tax pass by the end of this year, chaos will errupt. If people think the unemployment rate is bad now, wait until people are not only jobless, but have a $1000 electric bill to boot. What do you pay? Your mortgage or rent and have a roof over your head, or your electric bill and have electricity for a short time before you lose your home?
 
At the tax rates they are proposing, households and small business owners making $1.5 million or more will lose 57% of their income to taxes. What do they do? Fire employees? Or keep employees and drop their health coverage? Well, it's okay if they drop health coverage because the government will have a wonderful plan waiting on the other end!
 
Who is truely right and truely wrong? Obama is having it both ways. He says he will take taxes from the rich to feed the poor, but what he really is doing is taking taxes from the rich and the poor to feed himself and the rest of the big government machine.

Discrimination is Okay if White People are the Victims

If there is one thing that I have learned from Sonia Sotomayor and the liberal lemmings on Capitol Hill and in Hollywood, it is that it's okay to be a racist if white people are on the receiving end.
 
Last night on Hannity, actor/comedian Tom Arnold did his best to justify white people deserving to be discriminated against after all the years of slavery and racism against blacks and hispanics. While Tom may harbor white guilt (or maybe he is just trying to look good in front of the rest of the Kool-aid drinkers), I feel no guilt for actions that I 1. had no part in and 2. my family had no part in. Even if my family had been slave owners, I cannot control what happened two hundred years prior to my existance. So why should I feel guilty for what relatives that I never knew did?
 
I shouldn't. I live my life treating others as I wish to be treated to the best of my ability. I do not believe in affirmative action, but in earning your keep and creating your own success. I don't want to receive preferential treatment simply because I am a woman. What knowledge do we obtain if we are handed jobs and higher education that we did not show the will to achieve on our own? Are we not doing a complete injustice to people if we throw them into an experience that is beyond their realm of comprehension?
 
That goes for people of any race or gender. Are we not punishing the people that fought for their success by throwing people ahead of them in line that didn't want the job or the education bad enough to do the work to be qualified for it?
 
The left can spin it anyway they want, but the firefighters in the case that Sotomayor presided over got royally screwed. I still do not understand how a test was discriminatory toward minorities if it was a job related test. A test for a promotion should be based on knowledge of the job. If you don't know the job, then you don't deserve the promotion, especially in a line of duty where lives are at stake.
 
If you didn't see Hannity last night, find a video of it on Youtube. The Great American Panel seriously made me want to vomit. It made me sick to see a grown man sit there and justify ten times over why it is okay for white people to be discriminated against. We deserve it and earned it according to the left.
 
It's time to set aside "white guilt" and make everyone, every last American earn their dollar.

Not the Party of 'No', but the Party of YES!

 One of the many mantras in the 'Age of Obamania' is that the Republican Party is the Party of "No."
 
The left has made a full out habit of twisting the GOP's voting record and the fact that we are attempting to truely make a bipartisan effort to evoke the thirst for change into a facade of rejection.
 
The GOP did vote a clear and resounding NO to the Stimulus in the House. The left has made it out that we are against helping Americans. The Republican Party did not vote NO to helping Americans, but voted YES to helping Americans by trying to prevent the government from invading our lives further and piling the greatest debt on our shoulders that history has ever known.
 
It has been over 100 days since the Generational Theft Act passed into legislation and only a tiny fraction of the money has been dished out. Not only did the "shovel ready" jobs never come, but the unemployment rate has soared to an almost 30 year high. The liberals now want a second stimulus, yet only $58 out of $785 billion has been spent from the first. Obama now claims that they didn't have enough information at the time to predict this outcome, yet thousands of experts reported over and over that the stimulus would surely fail, kill the value of the US Dollar and put us at around $3 trillion in National Debt.
 
So why was the stimulus so critical to push through when Obama didn't have "all the facts"?
 
Another area that the GOP supposedly votes no to is energy independence. All I hear is DRILL BABY DRILL. Pennsylvania State Legislature Republicans as a way to balance the budget and create jobs wants to buy land to drill here and drill now while Govenor Rendell insists that PA Republicans cannot balance the budget without the tax hikes that he proposes.
 
When it comes to energy independence, the left says no to drilling, nuclear, coal and wind farms that may obstruct the view of Ted Kennedy's boating excursions.
 
When it comes to the right to life, conservatives have a clear YES to life. We aren't denying women the freedom of so called "choice" but saying YES to the rescue of innocent lives. (Heaven forbid a woman be "punished with a baby." And that is a quote from our dear leader. I thought he was a family man??)
 
The list goes on. In every instance where the left attempts to further our debt, grab another dollar out of our pockets to put into the pocket of someone that didn't earn it, turn a cheek to people that break the law, and further disrespect and shred the beautiful document that birthed our country, Conservatives end up the bad guy.
 
But people are waking up. The Tea Parties have been wildly successful and I have seen signs outside of businesses in my area protesting Governor Rendell's re-election and voting no to Cap and Tax. The more we speak out, the more the media criticizes us. You have to wonder what they are so afraid of when our own President openly makes fun of us for suggesting alternatives.
 
The fear is rising and it isn't because our representatives (well a select few) are strapping on a set. It is because the People are ready to take back what is rightfully and LEGALLY ours as written and dictated by The US Constitution.

What did Michael Jackson do for YOU?

It's been two weeks, and Michael Jackson is still dead.
 
That is the gist of headlines at this point to me.
 
Why are we devoting all of this time and energy to honoring a man that was accused on multiple occassions of pedophilia? He was married multiple times. He destroyed his own body. He allowed children that were not HIS to sleep with him in his bed. He disgusted most of America on the MTV Video Music Awards when he made out with his short lived wife (short lived being the marriage) Lisa Marie Presley. He hung his infant child (which we are now learning that possibly NONE of the children were actually his) over a balcony.
 
A real family man, huh?
 
What has Michael Jackson ever done for YOU? What has he done that made your life better other than put out some catchy tunes a over 20 years ago? I admitt it. I love "Beat It." It's a great song. But it didn't change my life. It didn't make me a better person. The only thing that song inspired was some fun singing in the car.
 
This past weekend, we celebrated our nation's freedom for the 233rd time. People came out in record numbers in the same fashion that they did to form our country over two centuries ago. It was all glazed over with frivilous talk of Michael Jackson's estate and custody battles and other nonsense that will never affect our lives directly.
 
I'd like to introduce you to some people that you have never known and will never have the opportunity to know. These people did something that DID change your life. They did something that affected the lives of others.
 
But you will never have the opportunity to thank them.
 
And we should all be ashamed.
 
This is Specialist Ross McGinnis. Ross died on December 4, 2006 in Iraq at age 19. Ross gave his life when he dove onto a grenade to save the lives of the people around him. Ross was posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor in June of 2008.

It has been almost 3 years since Ross died, and the hurt from his death that his family and friends feel is still there. It is visible. This is from Ross's Myspace. His page was never taken down. Note the dates of these messages to him and who they are from:

The picture in the comment from the person named Ian, is a photo of him with Ross McGinnis' ashes at his funeral. The comment was made only a few weeks ago.
 
This man gave his life selflessly. He died a brave and noble death. We do him a disservice when we cry over a man that did nothing to directly better our lives and did nothing to serve us and to help preserve our freedom and create freedom for the oppressed.
 
Today (July 7, 2009), 7 US Soldiers lost their lives in Afghanistan. In addition, the Taliban is still claiming to hold the US Soldier that went missing the week of Michael Jackson's death...but MJ's death overshadowed this story.
 
It over shadowed the fact that US Troops are leaving Iraqi cities and turning power back over to the people. They are leaving them with cities in which violence is down. Children can attend new schools. Citizens can do business. They can vote.
 
But no need to thank them.
 
When was the last time you thanked a soldier that you didn't even know for his service?
 
I can tell you when I did. June 26, 2009 at a community fireworks celebration. The recruiters from the US Airforce recruiting station that my brother went through were walking around talking with civilians and handing out key chains. I introduced them to my son and told him how they are like his Uncle and thanked them for everything they do.
 
Get on Google. Talk to members of your community. There are families and friends everywhere in this country that lost loved ones to war. It might have been Operation Iraqi Freedom. It may have been Vietnam or Korea. It may have been while helping people in the Sudan.
 
These men may have died, but take the time to get to know them. If anyone deserves posthumous recognition and honor it is these couragous men and women.
 
They are the ones that have made your life better. Not a dead pop star.
 
 
**ETA** The real tragedy of Michael Jackson's death is that 3 children who only ever knew him as their father have lost him. I am not so cynical that I do not recognize that fact. The world will continue to see celebrities come and go, just as we will see members of our own families come and go. The point is that we need to prioritize what is important.
 
Did this man REALLY TRUELY deserve non stop news coverage for two weeks after his death when North Korea was firing off scud missles and soldiers were dying in the desert to protect us and to secure a better life for the people of the Middle East?
 
Just consider that.
